"Here is another hand selected, rare performer brought to you by Basil classics and meeting Joe Basil's tradition of fine automobiles since 1951.
Presented here by Basil classics is this 1961 Chevrolet Impala ""bubble top"" which is badged as an SS and equipped with a 409 CI engine that is topped with two four barrel carburetors and backed by a four speed transmission.
In 1958, Chevrolet introduced the ""W block"" 348 CI engine in their full size line. With public increased interest in performance and horse power, Chevrolet introduced the 409 CI engine in 1961, also a ""W"" block version.
Many of us remember the Beach Boys song ""409"" which included the line "" my four speed dual quad positraction 409"" right? Well, this 1961 Impala is equipped exactly as that iconic song describes.
The engine is a 409ci block topped with two four barrel carburetors and backed up by a four speed transmission, a positraction rear end and power brakes to bring it all to a stop. Additionally, this Impala has previously had a frame off restoration of a solid original body which continues to present itself as in nearly new condition.
The factory correct blue paint and matching blue cloth interior draw your immediate attention and cause you to appreciate the stunning quality of this restoration inside and out. The poverty hub caps and black wall tires add to the overall muscle image this car exudes, as do the factory tach and factory floor mounted four speed shifter. Stop in and see this rare beauty for yourself, we assure you it's well worth the trip
