Packard was founded by James Ward Packard and his brother William and their partner, George Lewis Weiss in Ohio in 1899. It wasn't until 1902 when Packard Motor Car Company was officially established, thanks to the help of Henry Bourne Joy and other wealthy investors who were impressed by the reliability of the first vehicles made by James and William.
