1969 Shelby GT500 Owned by Carroll Shelby Up for Auction

We know what you’re thinking. “Wow, this is a rare Grabber Yellow (1 of 18) 1969 Shelby GT500!” Yes, you’re right, but what could make this ride even more righteous? That’s right, this puppy was owned by the man himself, Mr. Carroll Shelby!

The current owner purchased the car directly from Carroll Shelby and has spent the last ten years restoring this GT500 back to showroom condition.  We’re not sure how somebody could part ways with such a rare gem (oh yeah, it’s called money), but Mecum Auctions will have it up for bid Monterey in August.

Under the hood is a 428 Cobra Jet V-8 engine, and it’s mated to a four-speed transmission (all numbers matching with documentation, of course).  The odometer reportedly reads only 4,317 miles, so this ride must be in stellar condition.

So what’s your guess on how much this bad-boy will fetch?  This is a righteous ride on its own, but add to that the fact that it was actually owned by Mr. Shelby and has undergone a meticulous restoration, leads us to believe this GT500 will fetch about $200 – $300K .
