"We have a rare diamond here in this 2012 Cadillac CTS-V Hennessey Coupe. This brute makes more than 550 horsepower and torque yet cocoons driver and passengers in comfort and class. We are selling the car for the original owner who purchased the car new then sent it to Hennessey for the upgrades. Always garaged of course!
Made on February 3, 2012 at General Motors' Lansing, Michigan factory, this example is one of 2,286 Cadillac CTS-V Hennessey Coupes and one of only 4,873 CTS-Vs made in 2012.
Dressed in Thunder Gray exterior, the paint and trim are in overall excellent condition. The bodywork is straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy, the cargo area looks great and the body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body. The car features a rear-mounted spoiler and center-mounted exhaust. Instead of conventional door handles, there are touch pads for both side doors, creating a cleaner profile. Note that this CTS has no B-pillars.
This Caddy rolls on Michelin Radial X tires, size 255/40ZR19 in front and 285/35ZR19 in back. Each tire is mounted onto a black, factory alloy wheel. The wheels are in excellent order while the tires are in very good order.
Under the counterbalanced hood is a 6.2L V-8 engine (code LSA), based on the LS9 V-8 from the Chevrolet Corvette C6 ZR1. It produces 556 horsepower and 551 pounds-feet of torque. The choice to use a pushrod engine (OHV) arrangement is unique in the luxury performance sedan market, where competitors typically use dual overhead camshaft (DOHC) engines. The LSA engine is produced in GM's Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico engine assembly plant. The engine block is cast aluminum 319-T5 alloy with cast iron cylinder liners. The crankshaft is forged steel using powdered-metal connecting rods. Pistons are high-silicon Hypereutectic Aluminum alloy replacing the forged aluminum used in the LS9 engine. The compression ratio is 9.1:1. The cylinder heads are based on the Corvette's LS3 head and are cast from type 356-T6 Aluminum alloy. The exhaust manifolds are cast iron. The supercharger is a twin four-lobe screw compressor-type unit displacing 1.9L. It is Eaton's Twin Vortices Series (TVS) generating a maximum boost of 9.0 psi. Intake air is cooled with a water-to-air intercooler built directly into the supercharger unit.
This motor is backed by GM's six-speed, electronically-controlled automatic transmission (code 6L90) with overdrive and a 3.23:1 limited-slip final drive. Driver convenience features include dual-zone automatic climate control, power rack-and-pinion steering, power four-wheel disc Brembo brakes, Magnetic Ride Control (MRC), cruise control, power windows, power locks, power-folding and heated sideview mirrors, power eight-way front seats, keyless start, electric parking brake, tilt steering column with power-adjustable rake and telescopic features and more.
Dual-stage front airbags, driver and front passenger side airbags, roof-rail side curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes, side blind zone alert, dynamic rear brake proportioning, high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps, Rainsense automatic windshield wipers, keyless entry, Ultrasonic rear parking assist and rearview camera system, remote vehicle start and more.
Inside, the Ebony leather interior with Ebony trim is in overall excellent condition. The front bucket seats with eight-way driver's adjustment with articulating headrests look great, along with the matching carpet. There's a leather-trimmed steering wheel with auxiliary controls are standard, including paddle-shift controls. The dashboard, inner door panels, center console and console-mounted shift lever are all in excellent order. A factory Delco-Bose infotainment center completes the interior
For the 2012 CTS, the front grille used higher quality materials to give a more vertical design, and the Cadillac logo was being subtly changed to give a more vibrant appearance. For 2012, GM also offered some new technology and option packages with the Cadillac CTS.
A CTS-V Coupe was introduced, first shown at the 2010 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The CTS Coupe was Cadillac's first coupe since the Eldorado, which was discontinued in 2002. It has the same 556 horsepower engine and transmission choices as the CTS-V sedan. The CTS-V Coupe features unique centered twin exhausts, a larger grille for air intake and an optional ""saffron"" interior trim color. Like the CTS-V sedan, it comes standard with 19-inch aluminum wheels, Brembo brakes and Magnetic Ride Control.
The CTS-V made the Car and Driver 10Best list in 2011 and 2012.
Coupe competition to this Cadillac in 2012 included Aston Martin's DBS, Audi's R8, BMW's M6, Bentley's Continental GT, Ferrari's 599 GTB, Jaguar's XKR, Lamborghini's Gallardo, Mercedes-Benz's C63 and CL 600, Nissan's GT-R and Porsche's 911.
If you're a Cadillac fan who likes to stumble over diamonds in the rough, don't pass up this Cadillac CTS-V Hennessey Coupe at MotoeXotica Classic Cars.
