"2007 Jaguar S-Type Sedan
""I'll say this about that: the outgoing S-Type offers the finest ride in its class. Potholes, broken pavement and other egregious surface imperfections are dismissed with brand faithful imperious ease. The S-Type's magic carpet ride renders the car a perfect long distance executive commuter and a suitable Town Car [sic] for ladies who lunch. The well judged variable ratio rack and pinion system handles either chore with equal aplomb."" Thetruthaboutcars.com
For consignment, a 2007 Jaguar S-type sedan with a title verified 47,040 actual miles. This garage kept beauty has one thing above all other cars; the leaper hood ornament over an oval grille and dual rounded headlights. When you see that coming down the road, you know it can only be one car.
Exterior
Sinuous lines are reserved to the front on this decidedly rounded car where the hood appeases the four lights ahead by contouring and keeping those lines until they merge with the rise caused by the grille, all falling seamlessly to the bumper, trimmed in chrome and opening to gaping intake below. Smooth sides have a subtle character line, a slim C-pillar, and short tail section following broad doors. Chrome trim embellishes the rear view including a pair of exhaust tips that protrude past the bumper cover, while 18-inch wheels carry 40 series ZR rated tires giving the car the stance of a grand tourer. Overall, the body is clean and straight with imperfections noted as various scuffs, scratches, blemishes, and chips, all fairly mild. There are chin scrapes and some minor damage to the front apron.
Interior
Black grained burlwood is the perfect complement to black leather coverage on the door panels and the kind of profile you've come to expect from a Jaguar. From there, sporty black leather bucket seats greet you up front with just the slightest bit of use evidence on the driver's while the rest, including the accommodating rear seats, are in great condition. The warm palette continues up front where even the steering wheel contains woodgrain and leather, leading to broad coverage of burlwood on the dashboard and clear, concise gauges in the instrument panel. The center stack shape might mimic the grille configuration and holds a touchscreen over an AM/FM/CD radio with navigation and the push button A/C controls. The shifter handle looks like solid wood and the J-gate is unique, framed completely by burlwood. Black carpet covers the floor cleanly, the gray foam backed headliner is in good shape, and the trunk is fully finished and clean.
Drivetrain
Under the hood we find a clean 3.0 DOHC liter V6, fuel injected and rated at 235 horsepower. It's mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the rear axle and 3.31 gears.
Undercarriage
No complaints down here as everything is tidy and clean. The dual exhaust travels down a central tunnel and through original equipment mufflers before widening and exiting through chrome tips. Double wishbone suspension is utilized front and rear and four wheel power disc brakes are standard.
Drive-Ability
There's a calming effect to all the black leather and burlwood, and dreams of long highway cruises immediately flood your brain when you take a seat in this cockpit. But we're keeping it short and just running the test loop today where the car performs without issue, tracking straight, providing good power, and a comfortable ride. Our checklist is nothing but green lights as all functions operate as intended on this British four door. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
