For consignment, a 2004 Ford Mustang Saleen S281 coupe with a title verified 33,153 actual miles.� The ""281"" refers to the cubic inches which the 4.6 liter V8 measures out to, and the S represents Saleen, and to some, supercharged. This car has been professionally built by Anderson Motorsports and according to our consignor, ""everything on the car has been upgraded"" and refers to the drivetrain, fuel system, induction, brakes, suspension, and electrical. It also makes a dyno proven 480.65 horsepower and was a feature car in the June 2012 issue of the Muscle Mustang & Fast Fords magazine.�

Exterior
Saleen's exterior design treatment is a winner out of the gate, having been perfected over years of generational evolution. Aside from the stunning Torch Red of the paint, you have a custom front fascia that would be at home on the Trans Am circuit with big intakes and finned extractors. Rear quarter intakes have been bladed, and a cladding duct sits low on the rocker. Rear flowing extractor vents bookend the rear bumper cover while air flow vents line up over center exit exhaust fit into the rear splitter and SALEEN is boldly broadcast under an extended wing. A hood with intakes, body graphics, and the coveted number on the bumper, (50), complete your Saleen prominence and chin scrapes are the only imperfections we could find.�
Interior
S281 appears on the carpeted kick panel of the black plastic doors adorned with glossy red faceplates for the switchgear. Saleen branded leather buckets are up front, dark charcoal on the bolsters and light gray for the tuck and roll inserts, with slight wear on the ingress points of the driver's seat, but these, and the rear 2+2 seats are in otherwise excellent shape. Up front, that standard steering wheel is mated with white faced and Saleen branded gauges, a shift light on the column, and added gauges on the A-pillar for water temp, boost, and air/fuel ratio. The center stack has the typical A/C panel with billet style knobs and a Mach 460 AM/FM/6 CD stereo under a twin pack of dash mounted gauges that include boost pressure and air temp. The passenger airbag panel is signed by Steve Saleen and a Hurst shifter resides in the center console over nicely appointed charcoal carpet. The headliner above and the lined trunk are clean and unmarred.��
Drivetrain
Let's get down to business! Along with another Saleen autograph, we have a clean 4.6 liter SOHC V8 with a Kenne Bell supercharger and methanol injection. It's married to a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission which routes power to the Ford 8.8"" in back with 3.27 gears and TracLoc. Headers are on board to begin the exhaust process while Wilwood brakes are supplied for the power disc units in front, power disc brakes also employed on the rear wheels.��
Undercarriage
Very clean and evidence of more performance upgrades, the underside is essentially rust free with the exception of some rear axle heavy metal where surface rust exists. Meaty red sway bars augment the Racecraft suspension system with coil springs in front and a 4 link with coil springs in back. Dual exhaust runs from the headers to the Spintech mufflers, snaking around the gas tank and come together for a twin center exit. There are no catalytic converters on the system but they will come with the car.��
Drive-Ability
Part show car, part street beast, this Saleen is a treat for the senses, especially sight and sound as the exhaust system and its improved breathability, announces its presence with track friendly roar. The car has obvious power underfoot and handling is off the charts good. Shifts are crisp and the car pulls throughout the RPM range encouraging more throttle, but we only need 50% to affirm its power. At the same time, all functions available to the driver operate as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.�
Saleens are generally rare and special. Here we have one that's been bumped up a tad in the performance realm and sips some alcohol to squeeze a few more ponies from its bespoke configuration. If you love Mustangs and have always desired a Saleen, this high performance version is just what the doctor ordered. Performance, beauty, and handling in a Torch Red package. What a spicy stallion!�
