"2004 Cadillac CTS-V 4 Door Sedan
""Cadillac hopes its CTS-V will be to the BMW M5 what the Z06 is to the 911: a worthy competitor for much less money and a critical success, even in Europe. It takes on BMW with good old fashioned, rumbling pushrod V8 power-400 horses from a 5.7-liter aluminum block Vette sourced LS6. The stability system has four driver select modes in the V, including a track performance setting, (Z06 again). It has thicker front/rear antiroll bars, and spring rates are up 27 percent."" MotorTrend, July 2003
For consignment, a 2004 Cadillac CTS-V four door sedan with a title verified 37,620 actual miles. It didn't take long for the first gen CTS-V to attain legend status and they've evolved into the current CT5-V Blackwing that is capable of an astonishing 668 horsepower.
Exterior
With its facet chiseled design and Black coating for the straight steel, the car retains its unassuming look but in reality, it is a smoker. The exterior paint is presentable and a very aero front chromed grille keeps with the Caddy tradition and shows just a hint of the luxury this car abounds with. Four doors allow easy access for thrill riders and the tall vertical back of this car has flush and faceted tail lights, while two large tailpipes exit just below the integrated bumper. 18-inch light alloy wheels are wrapped in 245/45ZR18 tires with an early 2025 date code. Imperfections include water staining in the clear coat, chin scrapes, and a few scratches on the wheels.
Interior
Nicely molded and smooth to the touch door panels containing all the necessary buttons and toggles to make life just a bit easier on the road. Passengers are treated to high back tan leather bolster buckets with lighter tan suede inserts, materials that are also used in the rear bench, and all are in nice shape. A center console houses the manual shifter in a leather boot along with requisite cupholders. In the dash center is a long panel containing a digital climate control panel, an AM/FM/CD radio with navigation and XM capability, and an interactive screen. Despite the exterior facet design, the interior takes on all smooth curves for the dash and dash top. We note the passenger side shows some residual glue or damage from an attachment. Simple gauges just glow at you in front of the sporty steering wheel while the floor is flooded with deep pile tan carpet and the trunk is finished with gray cloth paneling.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a pristine preserved engine with a large plastic cover, hiding most of the 5.7 Liter LS6 V8. This mighty mill is rated at 400 horsepower with EFI feeding the proper amount of fuel, and on back is a T56 6-speed manual transmission. A 3.42 limited differential is on the back receiving much of the power and ready to light 'em up!
Undercarriage
Underneath is a play on straight rust free steel mixing with stamped floor pans and aero ground effect panels. Only a few light hints of surface rust here! The Brembo brakes are reserved for both axles as power discs and the front suspension is an independent Macpherson strut design and the rear is an independent multi-link with coil springs. Dual exhaust travels the center tunnel and splits to encounter original equipment mufflers, then exit wide via chrome tips.
Drive-Ability
The luxury muscle sedan has the feel of a Cadillac and stealthy outward appearance, saving recognition only for those who can identify the V on the decklid. Plenty of invigorating acceleration here, bar grabbing handling, and bias free panic stopping on a dime. All functions were working as intended but we do note a service airbag light and the brake lights are not working for some reason. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
These early V-series cars are now recognized as some of the best and are sought after by collectors and performance enthusiasts. Here's a clean, low mileage example in arguably the best color. Its unassuming exterior has been surprising red light warriors for years and now represents the origins of Cadillac's foray into performance. Today, an M on a BMW might just be a cosmetic package, but a V on a Cadillac still
