"2003 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
The launch of the 1994 model year of the Ford Mustang was arguably the moment that the vehicle propelled itself into the era of ""modern cars"". After years of anticipation that had fans eagerly awaiting the next generation, the fourth generation, internally known by the code SN95, finally debuted. The 1999 model year brought about a mid cycle refresh just in time for the new millennium. The 1999-2004 Mustangs are referred to as ""New Edge'', which was Ford's global design language during that time period.
For consignment a 2003 Ford Mustang GT convertible with a title verified 56,476 actual miles. This former show car has been garage kept and has a newer interior according to our consignor.
Exterior
Can't miss Zinc Yellow paint adorns this pony car with lots of metallic black accenting that includes rocker stripes, hood stripes, more stripes over the wing and a black latch panel, the canvas top, and some very nice 17-inch American Muscle Bullitt style wheels, here wrapped in 245/45ZR17 tires. The Mustang stamping on the rear bumper has been accentuated by it being filled in with black and the side sport mirrors also provide the contrast with satin black plastic. Scoops abound for cosmetics and include the one on the hood and intakes on each sail panel. A small splash of color is provided by the red caliper covers which contain the Mustang brand. Imperfections include some flex cracks on the bumper along with scratches and scuffs, chips, overspray, a gash in a sidewall, chin spoiler scrapes, and some random scuffs.
Interior
Door panels are well designed and monochromatically charcoal and present in nice condition with the exception of some spilled glue on the driver's side. Yellow and black leather buckets catch your attention and flank a center console that has a spacious glove box/armrest, cup holder, and the simple shifter. These rear seats wear the same colors and also include the yellow piping, all showing in very nice shape. Up front, the standard steering wheel contains thumb controls seen across the Ford line in this era, and front a simple cluster and an efficient center stack with A/C panel and AM/FM/6 CD radio. A twin rounded dash harkens back to earlier generation Mustangs and displays well while charcoal carpeting floods the floors and is protected by black Mustang branded carpeted mats. The trunk also remains clean and finished in gray cloth panels.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is the 4.6 liter SOHC V8, fuel injected and rated at 260 horsepower. It's mated to a 4R70W 4-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the Ford 8.8"" rear with 3.27 gears and TracLoc. The bay contains some yellow accents including the coil packs, the factory oil fill cap, and the dipstick handle.
Undercarriage
Other than some typical surface rust, the underside shows a spectacularly clean, with dual exhaust the run through FlowMaster mufflers after an H-pipe, and then out through robust polished tips. Four wheel power disc brakes are on board and suspension consists of coil springs at both ends with a 4 link in the back.
Drive-Ability
We've come to appreciate the power and toss-ability of the New Edge generation and this example doesn't disappoint. It has good power and acceleration, handles well, and stops on demand. We note the A/C is not working but all other functions operate as intended, and it's back to the stable for this wild horse. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
A nice custom exterior treatment here means you won't be confusing your car with other Zinc Yellow Mustangs at the next Mustang show. Here's a car that's fun out of the box with the bonus advantage of having a soft top. Thanks to the yellow and black leather seats, you might be riding in open air, but it won't be bare back!
