Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is excited to present this 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GTR, represented by the consignor as 1 of approximately 25 C5 models modified by Specter Werkes/Sports of Troy, Michigan. Finished in white with red and blue racing stripes and a contrasting black tail panel, this Corvette combines the lightweight fixed-roof Z06 platform with extensive engine, chassis, braking, and body upgrades.
Power comes from a Katech-developed C5-R 427 CID V8 paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. According to the provided documentation, the engine underwent a complete rebuild by Katech in June 2020 and features Jesel rocker arms, Manley exhaust valves, Johnson tie-bar lifters, a DeWitts dual-fan cooling system, external oil cooler, long-tube headers, and a custom dual exhaust system. The result is a serious naturally aspirated drivetrain built around proven Corvette racing architecture.
The Specter Werkes GTR bodywork gives this Corvette an unmistakable presence. The widebody conversion adds approximately 3 inches of width at the front and 6 inches at the rear, accompanied by a vented cowl-induction hood, fixed projector-style headlights, enlarged front fender vents, rocker extensions, detachable front splitter, and rear wing. Silver 19-inch Forgeline GS1R wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires measuring 285/30 up front and 325/30 at the rear.
The chassis has been extensively upgraded to match the power and wider footprint. Four-way adjustable Feal coilovers with Swift springs are joined by Pfadt Race Engineering adjustable anti-sway bars, revised control arm bushings, SPL tie-rod ends, and SKF wheel bearings. AP Racing Pro 5000 R calipers paired with Essex two-piece slotted rotors at all four corners provide the braking hardware for the performance-focused setup.
Inside, high-back bucket seats feature Z06 and GTR embroidery with black leather upholstery. The cabin retains dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, a head-up display, and a Bose sound system with an in-dash CD player. The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a 200-mph speedometer, tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, voltage, and fuel level.
With its Katech-built 427 CID V8, Specter Werkes widebody conversion, 6-speed manual transmission, Forgeline wheels, AP Racing brakes, adjustable Feal suspension, and extensive track-oriented hardware, this 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GTR represents a highly specialized interpretation of the C5 Z06 platform with performance upgrades throughout.
