Introduced as a concept vehicle at the 1993 Detroit Auto Show, the Plymouth Prowler was Chrysler’s bold modern interpretation of a classic hot rod. Beyond its radical styling, the Prowler was engineered as a true technology showcase, featuring extensive aluminum construction, near perfect weight distribution, and a rear mounted AutoStick transmission for improved balance and handling.
This 1999 Plymouth Prowler is one of just 3,921 produced for the model year and benefits from the improved 3.5 litre all aluminum High Output V6 producing 253 horsepower. Performance upgrades over earlier models included revised tuning and a more aggressive exhaust note. The chassis features aluminum front A arms, inboard Koni coilover shocks, and four wheel vented disc brakes, giving the car handling characteristics far beyond its retro appearance.
Finished in striking Prowler Black over very comfortable Agate leather bucket seats, this example was built in December 1998 at Chrysler’s Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit. Delivered new through Chrysler’s Los Angeles sales zone, the car later resided in Michigan and Ohio before being imported into Canada in 2005.
Factory equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, locks, mirrors, steering, a factory AM FM cassette stereo with in dash six disc CD changer, and chrome dual exhaust tips. The staggered chrome wheels measure 17 inches in the front and 20 inches in the rear, completing the traditional hot rod stance. Newer car cover in the trunk.
