For consignment, a 1997 Honda ACTY SDX 4wd pickup truck with 36,480 kilometers (22,668 miles), showing but the true km's are unknown due to a Montana title exemption. Kei is short for kei jidōsha, which is Japanese for ""light motor vehicle,"" and more than 30,000 have been imported to the U.S. since 2020.
Exterior
With very little diversion, the majority of Kei pickups come to us in white, here in Taffeta White to be exact and the flat faced design places it somewhere between your favorite Matchbox car as a kid, and the cab over design of big rigs from the 70's. The sides are occupied by good sized doors that allow easy access, while the bed height makes it easy to load cargo or groceries and the walls pivot down to make it even easier. The diminutive body rides relatively high though, on 12"" wheels with 23x10x12 tires with an early 2025 date code. Coming at you, a tall windshield tops a smooth grille and distinctive headlights over an integrated grille. The rhino lined bed includes a backrack and cargo net, currently housing two extra sets of wheels. Imperfections are few and include some bubbles and scuffs.
Interior
Simple and efficient black vinyl door panels present cleanly and even include speakers and some storage. Vinyl buckets occupy the cab with headrests attached to the back wall in front of the large window. Simplicity defines the driver's control zone which includes a basic gauge cluster with vent controls and an AM/FM/CD radio to the left of the right hand drive truck, with cupholders added and a leather handled shifter between the seats. A rubber weather mat covers the entire floor and the light ceiling includes a dome light. The entire interior presents cleanly.
Drivetrain
Accessed through the bed is a 656cc SOHC 3-cylinder engine, rated at 38 horsepower and fueled through a 1-barrel carburetor. It's mated to a 5 speed manual transmission that routes power to front and rear axles with 6.23 gears. The Honda runs on a 12 volt system.
Undercarriage
Simple and clean on the underside, here you'll find the single exhaust running through a resonator type muffler and a spare tire mounted next to the gas tank. Brakes are divided as front disc and rear drum and suspension is composed of Macpherson struts in front and leaf springs in back. There's some typical surface rust underneath but conditions are otherwise clean and dry.
Drive-Ability
Don't get us wrong; we love the electric golf karts we use inside the mall. But this little roustabout has better power, more features, and is fully enclosed! It's fun to drive and functions well, tracking straight, braking nicely, and handling well around turns at cruising speeds. All functions afforded the owner work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Beach town, mountain town, farm properties, city, suburbs, and estates. There are so many places we picture this ride and the many functions it can be used for.
