"1994 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 25th Anniversary Coupe
""Production of the 25th Anniversary TA was announced on Jan 7, 1994. The 25th Trans Am paid tribute to the first 1969 Trans Am, with its blue center stripe and white paint scheme. In order to get the 25th Anniversary package RPO #B71 would have to be chosen at time of ordering, and the buyer would have to pony up an additional $995 over the price of the Trans Am. The 25th TA would also carry on Pontiacs long standing tradition of serving as the pace car for the 1994 Daytona 500."" Mifbody.com
For consignment, a 1994 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 25th Anniversary Edition coupe showing 24,889 miles, but the true miles are unknown. Of the 2,000 produced, 1,412 were T-top cars like this one, while 338 hardtops were produced and 250 convertibles. However, your 25th Anniversary is spec'd, one thing is certain. It's rare, fast, and collectable!
Exterior
The wedge shaped Firebird starts with a smooth nose sporting deeply inset fog lights and on our car, the front license plate bracket. From there, it's a clean sweep over the hood where intake ducts interrupt airflow on its way to the steeply raked windshield. That air continues over the glass T-tops, down the domed rear glass, and through the gaps of the wide wing where top flowing air creates potential downforce. Extended body panels and cladding streamline the sides and the rounded tail lights give way to seamless smooth lines of the rear bumper, color matched in Arctic White paint and sculpted with twin tunnels that house the dual chrome exhaust tips on each side. 16-inch white five spoke wheels are unique to the Anniversary and are wrapped in 245/50R16 rubber with an early 2021 date code. Chin scrapes are the only discernible imperfections we note on the exterior.
Interior
The exterior color and anniversary designation is brought to the interior beginning on the door panels with white leather inserts crafted behind the black base with ""25th Trans Am"" embroidered on each clean door panel. If after you open the door you forget about this special edition, the moniker appears on the seat backs of the white leather buckets in front which are sporty and inviting. In back, the 2+2 seating is visually joined by a single back piece in white leather and shoulder belts are onboard to keep you planted in these smaller seats. Up front, standard Trans Am configuration with gray thumb buttons on the black steering wheel which frames a basic instrument cluster with the pertinent information. Gray plastic buttons dominate the center stack where the integrated AM/FM/Cassette stereo piggybacks on the simple A/C knob panel. A T-handled automatic shifter is in the center console as it did with most 25th anniversary cars, 1,622 of the 2,000 to be exact. In back a storage shelf can be pivoted up for space underneath and a deep valley is present for stowage of the T-tops. The interior is all in excellent condition.
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a clean 5.7 liter LT1 V8, no slouch at 275 horsepower and mated to the 4L60E 4-speed automatic. You'll be able to spin both rear tires as the 3.23 gears include Positraction housed in the 10 bolt differential. Power disc brakes are on front and rear wheels.
Undercarriage
Overall very clean underneath with the typical surface rust on untreated metal components and some residual oil on the rear differential. The single exhaust runs adjacent to the driveshaft, enters the original equipment muffler in back, and two tailpipes leave that muffler, split wide and terminated with dual flaring chrome tips on each side. Suspension here is made up of coil springs in front and a torque arm with coil springs in the back.
Drive-Ability
The venerable 5.7 liter comes to life without hesitation and into Drive we go, rolling this F-body onto the test loop and giving her some throttle to which she responds with glee. This car moves out well, sticks to the road, and is so fun to drive, it almost feels illegal! But of course it's not and since every function on the car operates as it should, this is going to make one heck of a weekend driver for the next owner. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
There are Trans Ams, and then, there are anniversary Trans Ams. Some people collected each one and were surely dejected by the demise of Pontiac. Fortunately most special editions were put away, reserved for special occasions, and remain clean and low mileage. Start your collection today with this spotless 1994 and be among the elite 2000 who own this special model!
