The first factory production Jaguar XJ-S Convertible was introduced in 1988, long overdue for enthusiasts of warm weather climates and top-down enjoyment. Earlier SC variants required tedious panel removal with storage in the trunk, or special conversion models from coach builder Hess & Eisenhardt which added great expense. These true factory convertibles continue to be very well received today, with prices continuing to rise over the last decade, allowing for wonderful future investments that can be driven comfortably on any roadway!
Offered here is a 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Convertible finished in a factory color combination of Diamond Blue Metallic over Savile Grey leather interior. Under the bonnet lies its original 5.3L High-Efficiency V12 SOHC power plant with durable 3-speed automatic. Features on this properly kept Jaguar include climate-controlled air conditioning, on-board trip computer, power windows/locks, power adjustable mirrors, cruise control, AM/FM/Cassette audio system, telescoping steering column, burled elm dash and door caps, rear locking storage compartment, body side moldings, glove box vanity mirror, locking gas cap, and more!
Other notable features include power 4-wheel disc brakes, power steering, power convertible top, full size spare tire with original tire changing tools, a complete set of factory owner's manuals, original Triplex widow glass, carpeted floor mats, and Jaguar cassette head cleaning kit. Having traveled only 73,721 pampered miles, this Jaguar has been properly maintained and exercised, contributing to it being an outstanding driver today! The paint remains full of luster and shine and the leather interior shows only the slightest hint of wear after all these years. The blue cloth convertible top and boot are in excellent condition.
This example hails from a prominent Gloversville, NY collection since July 2005, and arrived to our showroom to receive a thorough servicing in 2023 to include new Hankook Kinergy tires, fresh battery, new Bosch alternator, new fuel pump assembly & filter, power steering rack bushings & new hoses, spark plugs/wires, distributor cap & rotor, fresh engine oil/filter, new radiator cap, a/c expansion valve with fresh charge with modern R134a refrigerant, wiper blades among a few other smaller items.
A true, turnkey Jaguar XJS has become a rare find. Now is the time to purchase one of these modern classics, as prices on quality cars are on the rise. Please feel free to contact us with any questions concerning this car, or about the worldwide transportation service of the vehicle if needed. It continues to impress in all respects and should be an excellent addition to any Jaguar collection! Please call to arrange a viewing inspection right away!
