The 1988 Nissan 300ZX belongs to the Z31 generation of Nissan's iconic Z-car lineup. It stands out as a highly desirable year for collectors because it received an engine power boost and gave birth to the legendary, track-focused Shiro Special edition. For the 1988 model year, Nissan introduced the updated 'W-series' VG30 engine blocks. These featured improved cooling passages and floating wrist pins, resulting in a 5-horsepower increase across all models. The 1988 model year could be configured in a few body styles: - 2-Seater (Coupe): Built on a shorter 91.3-inch wheelbase for sportier handling. It was available in both NA and Turbo forms. - 2+2 (Four-Seater): Extended wheelbase model with a small rear seat. It was only sold with the naturally aspirated engine in the US market. - T-Top Roof: : Most 1988 models came equipped with removable glass T-Top roof panels.
