"1986 Chevrolet C10 Flatbed Pickup
""The concept of a flatbed truck dates back to the early 20th century when goods needed to be transported over long distances. Initially, flatbeds were mounted onto the chassis of existing vehicles, such as cars or horse drawn carriages. As transportation needs evolved, specially designed trucks with flat cargo beds were introduced."" Cs-trucks.com
For consignment, a 1986 Chevrolet C10 flatbed pickup with 120,776 miles odometer, but the true miles are unknown. Here's a set up you just don't see very often and this could serve as half show truck and half work truck, and just think of the parade possibilities!
Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.*
Exterior
Your standard C10 cab in all its square body glory, here in a dark brown that puts on a satin finish. The egg crate plastic grille shows some tasteful patina while the chrome bumper below is in nice shape. But it's the back end that really shines with long planks of wood making up the flatbed and the same chestnut colored boards providing a stake side. At the end of the bed is a heavy duty diamond steel bumper, slightly twisted, and wearing a ball hitch. 15-inch wheels are wrapped in 225/75R15 tires with wide white walls that give the truck a unique profile while chrome side mirrors serve as ear like appendages. There's orange peel in the paint, some mottled brown paint, and some uneven filler, but overall the exterior is clean and straight.
Interior
Plastic beige door panels present with patina and discoloration and are equipped with white speaker covers over the black rough coat bottom. The tan cloth bench seat is in excellent condition and provides access to the standard steering wheel and basic dash and instrument cluster, all in black. A tan dash pad contrasts with the brown lower dash and the floor has a rhino type covering. The rear window is a slider and looks out over the flatbed.
Drivetrain
Under the hood, a driver quality 4.3 liter V6 with a 4-barrel carburetor and rated at 148 horsepower. It is mated to a 3-speed manual transmission that routes power to the 10 bolt rear axle with 2.73 gears.
Undercarriage
Plenty of surface rust around this driver quality underside and some rust on the pinch welds of the door bottoms. Some fluid on the transmission and residual oil in other places is noted. The single exhaust comes from factory headers and through a stock style muffler before terminating under the truck. There are no catalytic converters on the truck. Power disc brakes are up front with power drums in the back. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs in the back.
Drive-Ability
The trusty 4.3 starts right up and the truck smoothly rolls out onto the test loop, tracking straight and braking on demand. No major issues here and all functions operate as intended. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
This is a very useful truck, especially if you haul bigger items but don't want a heavy duty truck or diesel powered work truck. Our imagination runs wild as we can see this truck as part of a display for your store, or a delivery truck for your plant nursery. We could list 100 ideas for the truck, but we suspect you have some of your own.
