Cruisn Classics is proud to present this 1981 Pontiac Turbo Trans Am NASCAR Edition (RPO Y85). This example shows just 18,448 actual miles and is one of only 2,000 produced for the 1981 model year. As emissions regulations tightened in the early '80s, Pontiac moved away from its larger-displacement engines and equipped the Trans Am with a 4.9L 301ci V8 backed by a Garrett TBO-305 turbocharger. The combination produced 200 horsepower and 340 lb-ft of torque and gave the car a unique personality compared to the earlier Trans-Ams. This example is believed to be wearing its original paint and still presents very well for its age. The factory graphics, including the iconic Screaming Chicken hood decal, remain in great condition and help preserve the car's original appearance.
This car is equipped with factory T-tops, and both the glass panels and weather seals are in great shape. It retains its factory 15-inch Turbo white wheels, which are wrapped in newer Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires. One of the more interesting features on these cars is the three-stage turbo boost indicator mounted on the hood cowl. As boost builds under acceleration, the indicator lights up to show the turbocharger's output, a feature that was ahead of its time and remains a conversation piece today. The car is also equipped with Pontiac's WS6 Special Performance Package, which includes four-wheel disc brakes, a heavy-duty suspension, and a limited-slip differential.
Inside, the red and black interior has been exceptionally well preserved. Other than some fading on the rear package tray, the interior shows very little wear. The factory Recaro seats are a standout feature, as the 1981 Turbo Trans Am was the first production Pontiac to offer Recaro seating from the factory. The carpet, dashboard, headliner, gauges, and interior lighting are all in excellent condition. Power windows, power locks, factory air conditioning, and the heating system are all functioning as they should. Overall, this is a well-preserved example of one of Pontiac's most distinctive and technologically advanced performance cars from the early 1980s.

Here at Cruisin Classics, we understand that you have many options when choosing where you purchase your classic, muscle or collector car and we would like to thank you for considering us.
Cruisin Classics has been buying and selling cars for many years.. The majority were your average daily drivers but our passion has always been in muscle cars and hot rods so in 1996, Cruisin Classics built a 56,000 sq.ft. showroom located in Columbus, OH that they still operate out of today. All of our vehicles are hand-picked and selected to ensure they fit our inventory. This facility is now arguably one of the best-stocked collections for sale in the US housing hundreds of unique automobiles all under one roof. We invite you to our facility! There is something for everybody when you come to visit.
After years of serving as central Ohio's premiere classic car dealer at Cruisin Classics Auto Sales, we saw an unfulfilled need that was not being met for our clients. We loved helping match our clients with the classic and American muscle cars of their dreams. But what about after the purchase? We recognized that our clients needed a trusted resource to continue to care for their classic vehicles. It did not sit well with us that our valued clients and their incredible vehicles were being outsourced to, sometimes several, third-party resources for maintenance and performance needs. We also wanted to help the many people that we had met over the years who already owned classic vehicles which were in need of restoration, upgrades, and maintenance. Too often, we were seeing vehicles with so much potential left sitting in garages under covers because their owners did not know who to turn to for such specialized work. It is our goal to offer our clients a truly comprehensive, seamless, and enjoyable classic car ownership experience, from purchase to maintenance to storage. Thus, Cruisin Classics Performance Center was born. We have cherry-picked the most talented, experienced, and passionate team of technicians to offer our clients a true one-stop-shop solution for any and all of their classic car needs. Our honest business model has lasted almost 25 years to date and Cruisin Classics has a worldwide reputation as one of the best in the business.
Outside of the shop, this business has afforded us the opportunity to be actively involved in our community and fulfill our goal of supporting several local and national organizations that hold a special place in our hearts. We are proud sponsors of the Kiwanis Club of Columbus, the Columbus USO, Honor Flight, Special Olympics, multiple car clubs, and much more.
In conclusion, 100% customer satisfaction is our main goal. Always has been.. always will be. We would like to invite anyone considering one of our vehicles to come to our beautiful facility to inspect the car in person or send somebody on your behalf.
