With only 36,932 odometer miles, this 1979 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe L48 is in great overall condition. Finished in Corvette Black with an Oyster bucket interior, this is arguably one sharp color combination of a 1979 Corvette coupe. Fitted with a molded front spoiler from the previous year's 1978 Official Indy Pace Car Edition. Another item sourced from the 1978 Pace Car Edition was the high-back bucket seats that folded at a higher point to permit easier access to the rear storage area. These seats were fitted to all 1979 Corvette models as standard issue, as were tungsten-halogen headlight high-beams. Factory equipped for comfortable touring, this 1979 Corvette comes with its numbers matching 350 CI L48 V-8 engine, 4-speed manual transmission, N90 aluminum road wheels, ZX2 convenience group, power steering, 4-wheel power disc brakes, C60 air conditioning, A31 power windows and C49 electric rear window defogger. All model year 1979 Corvette 350 engines were fitted with twin-snorkel air induction and low-restriction mufflers.
Model year 1979 would be the first year that the Corvette base price eclipsed the $10,000 mark-an expensive automotive proposition in its day alluding to its popularity and acceptance to a wider fan base. Model year 1979 also proved to have the highest production volume of any Corvette, with 53,807 manufactured units leaving the Saint Louis, Missouri, assembly plant. Despite this high production number, very few have survived, making this remarkable example a very rare find.
