Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville is proud to present this 1976 Pontiac Trans Am! Step back into the golden age of American performance with this beautifully kept, one-owner 1976 Trans Am. Offered by the daughter of its original owner, this example captures everything that made the Trans Am a legend - bold style, unmistakable sound, and a true drivers connection.Powering this Trans Am is Pontiacs 400 cubic-inch L78 V8, producing 185 net horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque. Though modest by todays standards, these are "net" ratings measured with full accessories and exhaust - not the old "gross" numbers. On the earlier scale, this engine would have exceeded 250 horsepower. More importantly, it delivers broad, effortless torque, the kind that defined Pontiacs reputation for real-world performance.Backing that power is a factory 4-speed manual transmission, either the Muncie M20 (early production) or the Borg-Warner Super T-10 (late production). Both are heavy-duty, fully synchronized gearboxes built to handle big V8 torque with confidence. The Super T-10s aluminum case and close-ratio gearing provided crisp, precise shifts and kept the 400 in its sweet spot through every gear. Only about 5,400 Trans Ams were built with this 4-speed setup in 1976, making it a rare and highly sought-after combination today.Finished in bright Yellow with the iconic Firebird hood decal, this Trans Am commands attention. The Tan interior retains its vintage charm, featuring factory Rally gauges, high-back bucket seats, and the unmistakable Trans Am steering wheel.Pontiac made the 1976 Trans Am smarter, not softer. Radial Tuned Suspension sharpened handling for modern tires, variable-ratio power steering improved feel at any speed, and power front disc brakes gave confident stopping. The "batwing" spoiler, front air dam, and fender vents improved stability, while the Endura front bumper and shaker hood scoop blended design and performance in true Pontiac fashion.Power steering, power brakes, Rally wheels, and period-correct tires complete this authentic Trans Am. One owner. Four speeds. Pure 1970s muscle. This Speedster is listed by our Louisville showroom and can be viewed in greater detail including 100+ HD pictures and HD video at www.gatewayclassiccars.com.
