"1975 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe
""'Here's this year's version of last year's Best All Around Car' boasts the 1975 Corvette sales brochure. The 1975 Corvette underwent only minor changes from the previous year's model, keeping the best features of its predecessors and improving in other areas. The 1975 C3 marked the last model year that a true convertible Corvette was available for purchase until 1986."" Corvettemuseum.org
For consignment, a 1975 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with a title verified 10,953 actual miles. This pampered car has its numbers matching drivetrain and was owned and maintained by a knowledgeable Corvette enthusiast.
Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.*
Exterior
Coating the curves and creases with artistry is two stage Mille Miglia Red paint which accentuates the sinuous lines shaped by the fiberglass, the subtle flared wheel openings, the slightly raised hood center, and the iconic fender vents. The raise in the hood is embellished by glossy black spears outlined in white which also flank the cowl vents. Color matched T-tops provide the removable roof for the car which has the classic stance on 15-inch aluminum slot wheels and staggered width tires. Monochromatic red coverage adorns the back of the car where the rear window resides in a deep cove created by flying buttresses and the seamless tailpiece houses the legendary quad tail lights. Imperfections include chips, flex cracking, bubbling, scratches, and edge chips.
Interior
Black makes up the interior palette, with the door panels gussied up with a woodgrain insert and some polished trim and both doors are in great condition. Black leather bucket seats also show nicely and the woodgrain returns between them on the center console which houses the shifter and thumb wheels for the A/C. The black 3 spoke steering wheel looks good and fronts the dashboard which houses a pair of large gauges, the typical speedometer and tachometer, while condition gauges and a clock are in the center stack in black plastic above the AM/FM radio and all in very good condition. Black carpet hugs the floor with Corvette branded matching mats on top and vinyl lines the t-tops over our head.
Drivetrain
Here we have the numbers matching 350ci L48 V8, rated at 165 horsepower and fueled by a 4-barrel carburetor. It's mated to the numbers matching T10 4-speed manual transmission and the union of the two has lasted longer than most marriages, now 51 years! Power is transferred to the rear axle with 3.36 gears and Positraction. The bay presents in clean, driver quality visual condition and includes headers, power brakes, power steering, and air conditioning.
Undercarriage
Driver quality visuals here as well with typical surface rust but dry conditions. The dual exhaust runs through stock style mufflers and exits without fanfare through steel tips in back. Power disc brakes are at all four wheels and suspension consists of coil springs up front and the complex rear configuration with a frame anchored differential, tubular axles drive shafts, transverse strut rods and transverse leaf springs.
Drive-Ability
This Gen-X'er fires right up and brightens the test loop with its arrest me red coloration, exhibiting decent power, straight tracking, and very good handling. We note the horn, radio, and A/C are not working but all other functions onboard work as they should. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Nearly 34,000 Corvette coupes were made in 1975 but how many retain their original drivetrain? Is it the fastest Corvette ever produced? Not by a long shot. Does it retain all the coolness that could be squeezed from GM in this era? Absolutely! It's a numbers matching looker that will be a fine addition to your collection, or a great way to start one!
