This exceptional 1973 Datsun 240Z represents one of the finest documented late-production examples available today. Built in August 1973, this car was produced during the final weeks of 240Z production before Nissan transitioned to the 1974 260Z (RLS30). Combining remarkable originality, extensive ownership records, matching-numbers drivetrain, and careful restoration, this is an outstanding opportunity for collectors seeking a highly authentic first-generation Z-car. One of this car's greatest strengths is its documented provenance. Included are the original Owner's Manual, Warranty and Service Booklet, and the original plastic warranty card. Documentation confirms the car was sold new by Smith & Jones Datsun in Billings, Montana, to its first owner, Don Skip Stanaway, on November 13, 1973. An impressive collection of maintenance records accompanies the vehicle, documenting over five decades of ownership history. The file includes: 21 original service invoices from 1973-1995 documenting 22 years of first ownership. Service records from its second owner in Newberg, Oregon. Seven service invoices documenting its third owner beginning in 2010. More than 50 service invoices from 2014-2023 documenting the meticulous restoration and maintenance performed by its fourth owner. The most recent owner, a longtime Datsun and Nissan Master Technician, acquired the car in 2014 with only 37,000 original miles. Recognizing the car's exceptional rust-free condition and originality, his goal was to preserve its survivor status while restoring it cosmetically and mechanically using OEM components whenever possible and factory-correct procedures. Beautiful Factory Silver Metallic Exterior In 2017, the car received a professional repaint in its original factory Silver Metallic finish using high-quality PPG basecoat/clearcoat materials. The restoration was completed correctly, with exterior trim, headlight buckets, and components removed before paint, including the door jambs for a factory-quality appearance. Today, the finish presents beautifully with a recent professional detail producing a show-quality shine. Additional exterior highlights include: Original factory glass throughout Original contrasting gray rear tail panel Rear bumper overrider Power retractable antenna Polished exhaust outlet New OEM-style driver-side mirror New door handles Correct factory emblems The car rides on factory-correct 14-inch black steel wheels with original Datsun hubcaps featuring the distinctive red "Z" center caps. Completing the authentic appearance is a desirable set of hard-to-find Vredestein Sprint Classic 175HR14 tires. Well-Preserved Original Interior The mostly original black interior reflects the exceptional care this 240Z has received throughout its life. The cabin retains its authentic character while benefiting from tasteful restoration where appropriate. Interior features include: Original dashboard in excellent condition Original headliner Original gauges Optional center console Original door panels Original carpeting Original wood-rim steering wheel with Datsun horn button 160-mph speedometer Factory tachometer Auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level Replacement quartz clock The bucket seats were professionally re-foamed and recovered to preserve comfort while maintaining the original appearance. Thoughtful upgrades include: Motorsport Auto fuse box Custom 240Z embroidered floor mats Matching-Numbers L24 Engine Power comes from the original matching-numbers 2.4-liter L24 inline-six, factory rated at 150 horsepower. Notably, the engine has never required a rebuild and continues to perform exceptionally well. The detailed engine compartment retains its original paint along with the original Car and Engine Number Tag. Mechanical work completed during current ownership includes: Engine reseal Valve adjustment Ignition system servi
