1971 Mercedes Benz 280SL Pagoda - Single Ownership For Over 50 Years, MB Data Card, Complete History The Mercedes-Benz W113 “Pagoda” remains one of the most enduring and recognizable European sports cars ever produced. Designed under the direction of Paul Bracq, it combined graceful styling, exceptional build quality and refined open-air performance. Introduced for 1968, the 280SL represented the most developed version of the W113, with production concluding in 1971 before the arrival of the succeeding R107 SL. This exceptional 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is distinguished by more than 50 years of single-owner care—an extraordinary provenance that is increasingly difficult to find. Its long-term ownership is supported by an extensive collection of service and restoration receipts, providing valuable insight into the attention and investment it has received over the decades. Finished in elegant Silver Grey Metallic over a Black MB-Tex interior, the car presents in one of the most timeless colour combinations available for the Pagoda. Power is supplied by its matching-numbers 2.8-litre inline-six-cylinder engine, paired with the factory Code 423 automatic transmission for the relaxed and refined driving experience for which the 280SL is renowned. Complete with both its signature removable factory hardtop and folding soft top, this final-year 280SL offers exceptional versatility. Combining matching-numbers mechanicals, Mercedes-Benz Data Card, extensive documentation and remarkable long-term provenance, it represents a compelling opportunity to acquire a highly desirable example of Mercedes-Benz’s celebrated Pagoda roadster. -
