Details About Our Classic Lincoln For Sale:
Available at the St. Louis Car Museum is a 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III finished in Ginger Moondust Metallic over Medium Ginger leather/vinyl combination, with a Dark Brown vinyl roof. Factory appointments for the Continental Mark III were abundant. Starting under the hood, the lucky new owners would find a massive 460ci V8-4bbl engine mated to the Select-Shift automatic transmission, producing 365 horsepower and 500 lb. ft. of torque through a traditional rear-wheel-drive differential! Additional factory features include standard climate-controlled air conditioning, power windows, tinted glass, power steering, full wheel covers, Sure-Track power brakes, and Cartier electric clock. Optional equipment on this 70s Lincoln includes tilt steering column, power locks, rear window defrost, Twin Comfort power seats, whitewall tires, and AM/FM Stereo radio with power antenna.
This 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III was sold originally from V.I.P Lincoln-Mercury in New Rochelle, NY, when new, but hails most recently from the southern Florida area. It is showing just 69,188 miles on the odometer, which appears to be actual based on the originality and limited wear visible on the car. This classic has been professionally repainted once and continues to show exceptionally well! It had been tuned in 2020 with a fully rebuilt carburetor, new whitewall tires, and an all-new exhaust system. Upon arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum in April 2021, it received fresh engine oil & filter, retrofitted air conditioning to R134a, all new rubber brakes hoses, new rear brake cylinders, shoes & hardware, turned drums, and full brake fluid flush; new shocks, new idler arm, and sway bar bushings & end links.
It went on to be enjoyed by a Sarasota collector ever since, receiving continued care and maintenance in Florida. This included routine engine oil changes, coolant flush with new upper/lower hoses along with fresh thermostat, replacement air conditioning condenser & dryer, a/c belt, and fuel pump. It continues to impress on the open road! You would be hard-pressed to find a more luxurious road car from the early 1970s that provides such class, power, and comfort! It will come with two sets of keys, a window sticker, owner's manuals, a Deluxe Marti Report, storage car cover, and all available service records dated back to 2021. Highly collectible today. History of Lincoln's Continental Mark III :
Big luxury cars were the hallmark of American-built classics leading into the 1970s. Whether a Ford Thunderbird, Chevrolet Caprice, or upscale Cadillac Eldorado, you were going to get plenty of iron wrapped around plenty of features and options. Big cars meant big engines, big trunks, huge interior cabin space, and a comfortable road feel. Not wanting to miss out on all the fun, Lincoln redesigned their Continental to have considerably more style for the 1969 model year. Branded as the Mark III model, it was 6 inches longer than its Ford Thunderbird counterpart, which provided ample interior and trunk space. The trunk deck lid presented a spare tire contour, although it was only for looks. The hood itself measures six feet long, giving the luxury Continental the striking long hood/short deck proportions indicative of the period. The final year of the Mark III would come in 1971, with some 27,091 units built. Sales of the Mark III were brisk, proving it was a success for Lincoln, giving its main competitor, the Cadillac Eldorado, a run for its money.
