A complete restoration took place between 2017-2020 by 2nd Gen Restorations during which the body was stripped to bare metal and meticulously refinished in Fathom Green, the frame was media blasted and recoated and then the two were rejoined using new body mounts and hardware. During this time all lights, lenses, chrome, trim, glass, seals, and more were replaced with new. The interior has also been completely redone with all new upholstery, carpet, trim, headliner, wiring harness, gauges, radio, speakers, and more! A Vintage Air Heat and A/C system along with a Custom Autosound digital stereo have been installed and work wonderfully. The three-spoke Billet steering wheel frames a 140-mph speedometer, 8k tachometer, and supplementary gauges for coolant/oil/amp. The odometer shows just 218 miles which reflects the mileage added since completion of the build. Notably a new Hurst shifter, clutch, and flywheel have also been installed. Looking under the Cowl Induction hood you will find a very well detailed engine compartment. The 500+ HP 502 big block is topped with GM Performance Aluminum heads and intake manifold along with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and an HEI distributor. Cooling is handled by a high-flowing water pump, and Be Cool aluminum Radiator w/ Dual SPAL Electric Fans. Ceramic coated headers feed Dual Stainless Steel Pypes Exhaust System with X-pipe and Mufflers. Underneath the car is clean, rust free, and trimmed in a satin black finish. This car is out of North Carolina and retains its original floor pan! Additionally there is a laundry list of recent additions such as a Moroso high capacity oil pan, heavy duty front sway bar, GroundUp Tubular Control arms in the front and UMI tubular trailing arms in the rear, 4-corner Bilstien shocks, 4-corner Wilwood power Disc Brakes, New power Steering box, tie rods, idler/pitman arm, ball joints, bearings, urethane bushings, new, lines, hoses, electric fuel pump, fuel tank, and more. Included with the Chevelle is the original Owners manual, Warranty booklet, Protect-O-Plate, folder full of receipts, and a car cover!Obviously this car has been modified and that's not the original engine under the hood..lol However, original documentation is cool. For those wondering this car was born with a big block 396 and backed by an m22 4-speed! With a deep passion for all things automotive, LaFontaine Classic Cars celebrates the storied automotive heritage of the Motor City and looks to make the classic car of your dreams a reality.
Founded by Michael LaFontaine Sr. and his two grandsons, Zackary and Mackenzie Hinsperger, LaFontaine Classic Cars offers guests an unmatched offering of iconic classic vehicles – from weekend cruisers to Concours quality show vehicles.
Just prior to the passing of the matriarch of LaFontaine Automotive Group, Maureen LaFontaine, the building in downtown Milford became available and it was the ideal location to launch LaFontaine Classic Cars. The attention to detail and automotive nostalgia throughout is a tribute to Maureen and her everlasting legacy.
The showroom aims to bring buyers back in time to a more classic feel. In addition to all the vehicles in the showroom, the space is decorated with vintage signs from vehicle brands of the past. Not only are there vehicles in the building, but the parking lot to the south contains many others available for purchase.
Michael Sr. commented, “This area is prefect for us as we have a lot of roots in Milford and absolutely love this quaint downtown. We look forward to welcoming fellow automotive enthusiasts through our showroom doors and they can expect to receive the same Family Deal feeling people have come to expect at any of our other dealerships. It’s all about personalizing the experience and having fun at the same time.”
LaFontaine Classic Cars acquires vehicles several ways, with a majority of them coming through auction and Michael Sr.’s personal collection.
The shop is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. More information, including an online listing of vehicles, can be found at lafontaineclassiccars.com.
