1970 CHEVROLET CHEVELLE SS LS6 454/ 450HP
This 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS LS6 454/450HP Coupe was produced on May 18, 1970, at the Arlington, Texas Assembly Plant and sold new at Frontier Chevrolet in Denver, Colorado. The RPO LS6 was the top-of-the-food-chain engine option for the 1970 Chevelle model year. Boasting 450 horsepower and a ground-pounding 500 ft-lbs of torque, the big block Chevrolet engine featured an 11.25:1 compression ratio, topped by an aluminum intake manifold and a Holley 4-barrel carburetormaking the LS6 the king of the streets in 1970 and one of the most powerful and sought-after muscle cars of all time.
This Chevelle was the recipient of a comprehensive frame-off restoration. It is finished in show-quality base coat/clear coat Forest Green Metallic with white D88 stripes and a metallic dark green vinyl interior. It is powered by the legendary LS6 454/450HP engine. Like many others, this Chevelle had its original engine short block replaced under Chevrolet?s Counter Exchange program and now has a 1971-dated 454 in its place. However, it still retains many of its assembly-line-installed components, including its original factory-installed cylinder heads (casting #3964281, dated L 9 9), LS6-specific #3963569 Winters aluminum intake manifold, original engine pulleys with correct part numbers, original dated fan blade, and correct Holley list #4557 4-barrel carburetor.
This Chevelle also retains its original M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed manual transmission with the correct VIN derivative matching the car, along with the correct assembly code (P0B13C), which decodes as follows:
P = Muncie Plant
0 = 1970
B = February
13 = 13th day of the month
C = M22 transmission
The 12-bolt rear differential is also a factory-installed unit, coded CCF, designating a 3.31 ratio with Positraction. The assembly date of the rear differential is 0501B2 (May 1st, second shift at the Buffalo plant), with the correct casting number 3969278NF (197072 Chevelle 12-bolt) and a casting date of D 10 0 (April 10, 1970).
This Chevelle was also factory-equipped with:
F41 Performance Suspension
J50 Power Brakes
JL2 Front Disc Brakes
N40 Power Steering
ZL2 Special Ducted Hood Air System (Cowl Induction)
NK1 Cushioned Steering Wheel
Correct Rally Wheels wrapped in F70-14 white-lettered tires
A51 Strato Bucket Seats
D88 Hood and Deck Stripes
U69 AM/FM Radio
U14 Special Instrumentation
This LS6 Chevelle is a rare example of an authentic LS6 with many of its original assembly-line-installed components, confirming its true identity.

All dreams start with passion, and for Joe Verrillo, his passion has always been Corvettes and GM muscle cars. At age 17, he started a tiny shop called Classic Auto Sales and Service with just a handful of cars. The company quickly took off due to Joe’s persistence, hard work, and love of the great American muscle car, and was subsequently renamed Prestige Motor Car.
The Prestige name carried forward for nearly 40 years, and in 2019, the company was renamed Verrillo Motor Car in honor of its founder.
Today, more than 45 years later, Verrillo Motor Car Company is a leader in Corvette, specialty, and highline cars. With nearly a dozen employees, VMCC is carefully creating, caretaking and curating some of the finest C1, C2 and C3 Corvettes in the world, as well as buying, trading and selling very select, high-quality late model Corvettes and specialty cars. All vehicles are thoroughly inspected and serviced by the VMCC team of technicians. Verrillo Motor Car also offers service, detailing, reconditioning, award winning frame-off restorations, custom restomods, world-wide transportation, and creative financing and extended service options.
In recent years, Verrillo Motor Car has added consignment and brokerage services as well, creating new world-class sales and buying options for their customers.
Through the years, VMCC has had a number of their meticulously crafted Corvettes featured in national publications including Corvette Magazine, Super Chevy Magazine, Hemmings Motor News, Hemmings Muscle Machine, and ‘Vette Magazine.
