1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Real Deal Super Sport, Matching Numbers Muncie, Big Block 396, Recent Restoration Work, Protect-O-Plate, Functional Cowl Induction Up for sale from one of our owner's cars from his personal collection this iconic and highly sought-after 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. This is a true Super Sport car that boasts classic American muscle, authentic factory documentation, and recent restoration investments making it a rare opportunity for the serious collector or enthusiast. This Chevelle SS features what is believed to be the original 396 Big Block V8 engine. While the engine stamping is very difficult to read due to age and wear, the casting and presentation are consistent with the factory-correct setup, and the vehicle still retains its original matching numbers Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission, further confirming its pedigree. This car is also accompanied by the original Protect-O-Plate, helping to authenticate its SS heritage and factory originality. A Bit of Provenance This Chevelle has a bit of a story worth telling. It was originally sold by Past & Present Motor Cars roughly seven years ago to a close friend of the owner. Over the years, the original owner maintained a strong interest in the car and attempted to reacquire it multiple times. That opportunity finally came on December 31, 2024, when the car returned to the collection. Since then, it has undergone substantial upgrades and improvements, making it a turn-key muscle car that is ready to be shown, driven, and enjoyed. Recent Restoration & Upgrades Since reacquiring the vehicle, the owner has spared no expense in improving both the appearance and drivability of the car. Noteworthy upgrades and maintenance items include: New Upper and Lower A-Arms New Ball Joints and Front-End Suspension Components Complete New Carpet and Interior Refresh Retrosound Stereo with Bluetooth Connectivity and Sirius Satellite Radio Integration Refinished Trunk with Correct Splatter Paint New Clutch for Improved Driving Performance Brand New Set of BF Goodrich Radial T/A Tires in correct factory sizing Most Significantly A Complete Repaint Completed in May 2025 Its important to note that while the new paint job is of high quality and was professionally completed, the color is not an exact match to the original Fathom Blue (GM Code 28). There are also a few blemishes in the finish, which, despite not affecting the mechanical or structural integrity, have caused some frustration for the meticulous owner ultimately leading to the decision to place the car for sale once again. Features & Equipment This Chevelle SS presents in an eye-catching Blue exterior with White racing stripes, paired with a factory-correct Ivory (White) bucket seat interior, creating a bold and unmistakable classic muscle car appearance. Notable features and options include: Factory Bucket Seats with Center Console Tachometer and Functional Gauge Cluster Functional Cowl Induction Hood A True SS Hallmark Tilt Steering Column Power Steering Power Front Disc Brakes Original Muncie M20 4-Speed Manual Transmission New Tires with Proper Fitment Protect-O-Plate The car starts easily, idles strong, and pulls with authority just as you'd expect from a big-block Chevelle SS. The clutch engagement is smooth, the Muncie shifts precisely, and the brakes feel confident thanks to the updated components. The car feels planted on the road, aided by the recent suspension work and new tires. Condition Summary Paint: New as of May 2025, high quality but not exact to Code 28 and has minor blemishes Interior: Very nice overall with new carpet and minor updates Undercarriage: Solid and clean Mechanical: Strong running and driving car, fresh clutch, new front-end components Documentation: Protect-O-Plate included, previous ownership history available Final Thoughts This is a turn-key, true 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS that combines authenticity with tasteful modern enhancements. Opportunities to own a real-deal '70 Chevelle SS with this kind of history, recent upgrades, and factory documentation do not come around often. While it isnt a perfect museum piece, it is a very strong and honest example with loads of character, investment in recent restoration work, and pedigree to back it up. Past & Present Motor Cars was founded in June of 2018 by Jack and Jeff and began in 2 small warehouses in Ocala and Winter Garden, Florida. After seeing the business have steady growth in the first year and a half in March 2020 we moved our Main Location in Winter Garden to a new location that at the time seemed huge. We were a little nervous to take on this larger building and higher rent but we knew we had to THINK BIG. After getting moved in, that was the start of Covid. Just after getting settled in we put signs on the door saying we were only open by appointment. While it was a tough time in the world it actually was a good time to be in the car business especially the classic car business and we continued to see steady growth. After 2 1/2 years in that location we proceeded to acquire 4 buildings and lease a 5th building. This allowed for the operation we have today with 150+ Classic Cars and a Service Department. We are still doing the same thing we have done everyday since we opened, Great Customer Service, Owners that are Available and Accessible for our customers and very happy to talk cars anytime anywhere. We will never grow too big to be real with anyone! Keeping our commitment to our customers through straightforward business and ALWAYS doing the right thing! We are the same people with the same commitment as the day we opened and our slogan is and remains:
