The result was a stunning fastback coupe that managed to look both sporty and aggressive at the same time. This 1970 example is the ultra-desirable RS Z/28 trim, and features what is believed to be a matching numbers drivetrain, and a relatively recent restoration.Finished in Copper with dual white racing stripes, this RS Z/28 is fitted with numerous exterior features that separate it from a standard Camaro of the day. Z/28 badging can be found in the front grille, which is flanked by the one-year only split front bumpers, along with the fenders and decklid. The sport appearance is furthered by a deep lower front splitter, and attractive 15-inch 5-spoke wheels finished in gray with chrome trim rings and white lettered BFG Radial T/A tires. Optioning your Camaro with the RS package also fitted the car with hideaway windshield wipers, bright trim around the windows and body colored door handle trim.The interior is wrapped in beige vinyl and features a pair of bucket seats up front, and two seats in the rear - all separated by a transmission tunnel. Drop down into the driver's seat and you're met by a two-spoke steering wheel with wood applique and an RS badge in the center. That wheel frames a wood applique dashboard with a deeply inset 150 mph speedometer, tachometer, and auxiliary gauges off to the side and a pair of Autometer gauges have been installed beneath the dash.Under the hood sits the Z/28 specification 350ci V8 that was rated from the factory at a stout 360 horsepower and breathes through dual exhaust. Power is then sent through a Muncie M22 4-speed manual gearbox with a Hurst shifter in the cabin, and a Positraction differential at the rear. This car was also equipped with power disc brakes and power steering, making it a much more enjoyable car to wheel around.These second generation Camaros have really come into their own in recent years, and there are far fewer great examples of these cars, than there are of the first generation at this point.
