This beautiful 1969 Pontiac GTO is exactly the kind of classic muscle car we love to find - a real, PHS-documented GTO that retains the unmistakable look and character of the original car while benefiting from a handful of carefully chosen upgrades that make it even more enjoyable to drive.
Finished in its striking Matador Red exterior, this GTO has the stance and presence these cars are famous for. Inside is a very nice, mostly original black bucket-seat interior with the factory center console, giving the car the authentic Pontiac muscle-car feel you want every time you get behind the wheel.
Under the hood is a replacement YS-code Pontiac 400 cubic-inch V8 that has been completely rebuilt and stroked to a healthy 461 cubic inches. The result is plenty of Pontiac torque and performance while still maintaining the traditional character of the car.
Backing the 461 is the factory-style 3-speed Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, which has also been rebuilt and upgraded for improved performance and durability.
Additional upgrades include power steering, a 2½-inch dual exhaust system, four-wheel power disc brakes, and a great-looking set of 20-inch custom polished alloy wheels. These improvements give the GTO easier steering, better braking, stronger drivability, improved performance and excellent road manners without taking away from what makes a 1969 GTO special in the first place.
This car is very nicely done and runs and drives great. It hasn't been turned into an over-the-top restomod or altered beyond recognition. Instead, the modifications were made where they count, creating a GTO that is easier, safer and more fun to drive than it was when new while still retaining its classic Pontiac appearance and personality.
Best of all, this is a true GTO, documented by the included Pontiac Historic Services (PHS) paperwork, so there is no question about what you're buying.
