This 1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible combines one of Pontiac's most recognizable first-generation designs with a substantial list of mechanical improvements and approximately $22,000 in recent receipts, making it far more than a purely cosmetic classic.
Finished in a rich Burgundy Metallic with a contrasting black convertible top, the Firebird has the unmistakable long-hood, short-deck proportions that helped define the original Pontiac pony car. Quad headlights, the split Pontiac grille, front fender extractor-style trim, Firebird badging, and polished brightwork preserve the styling that made the 1969 model a standout.
Under the hood is a Pontiac V8 that has been updated with a number of modern supporting components. Visible upgrades include a March Performance accessory-drive system, polished components, braided lines, a large aluminum radiator, electric cooling equipment, and a performance-style induction system. The engine bay presents considerably cleaner and more performance-oriented than a stock installation while maintaining Pontiac V8 character.
More importantly, this Firebird has recently undergone an extensive mechanical sorting. January 2026 receipts totaling approximately $22,000 document significant service throughout the drivetrain, steering, suspension, cooling, braking, and electrical systems.
The engine received an oil-pan and front-engine reseal, along with a new Edelbrock timing chain and new water pump. The cooling system was flushed, helping complement the upgraded aluminum radiator and modern cooling hardware already installed.
The transmission was also serviced as part of the recent work.
Considerable attention was given to the chassis. The steering linkage was rebuilt, while the front suspension received new coil springs, lower control arms, and a sway bar. Those improvements are meaningful on a first-generation F-body and should contribute to tighter steering response and more predictable handling than a worn original suspension.
The braking system was addressed as well, with a rear brake rebuild and replacement rear brake hoses. The car is also equipped with a power brake booster visible under the hood.
Inside, this Firebird moves well beyond a standard restored interior. The cabin features a distinctive black and burgundy two-tone treatment with deeply pleated inserts on the bucket seats, rear seat, and door panels. The front headrests are embroidered with Pontiac script, and a full-length center console separates the front buckets.
A major modernization is the Dakota Digital instrument system, which replaces the original instrumentation with a clean, analog-style digital cluster incorporating a speedometer, tachometer, fuel level, oil pressure, voltage, and coolant temperature. The digital odometer displays approximately 14,000 miles. A Dakota Digital fan controller was also installed during the recent work.
Entertainment is handled by a RetroSound radio, allowing modern audio functionality without disrupting the vintage appearance of the dashboard.
The exterior has also benefited from LED headlight upgrades, providing substantially improved nighttime visibility while maintaining the original quad-headlight arrangement.
The Firebird rides on period-inspired 5-spoke wheels wrapped in raised-white-letter Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires, giving the car the right muscle-car stance without moving too far away from its late-'60s character.
Drop the power-operated black convertible top, and the custom interior becomes one of the strongest visual elements of the entire car. With its burgundy bodywork, matching interior inserts, black trim, polished wheels, and classic Pontiac styling, this is a Firebird designed to make an impression with the top either up or down.
