R Code | 32K Miles | 428 Shaker Hood | 4 Speed Manual | 3.50 Traction Lok | Deluxe Marti Report | Correct DrivetrainThis 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was produced on April 15, 1969, and initially delivered new to Herb Stein Ford of North Jackson, Ohio. Power is provided by the correct 428ci Cobra Jet Ram-Air V8 mated to the correct close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a correct Traction-Lok differential with 3.50:1 gearing. Finished from the factory in Black Jade with Mach 1 graphics, the car is equipped with a shaker hood, a front spoiler, rear wing, Magnum 500 wheels, woodgrain interior trim, and high-back bucket seats trimmed in black knit vinyl. This Mach 1 is now offered with a Deluxe Marti Report, manufacturers literature, and clean Michigan title. The R-code 428ci Cobra Jet Ram-Air V8 was factory rated at 335 horsepower and sends power to the rear wheels via a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a Traction-Lok differential with 3.5:1 gearing. A COMP Cams 218/218 hydraulic flat cam and lifter kit was recently installed, along with a refurbishment of the carburetor and rebuilding of the brakes. The block date is 9C18 - September 18 1969 which is correct with the rest of the drivetrain and many other components. The correct engine tag is still in place on the intake manifold as well as the transmission and rear end! The buck tag is still present on the passenger fender as well! The high-back front bucket seats and rear bench are trimmed in black vinyl upholstery with textured inserts, and the front seatbacks have red accent stripes. The black loop carpets have red heel pads, and further appointments include an analog clock, a heater, and woodgrain trim on the dash, center console, and door panels. Woodgrain trim adorns the rim-blow steering wheel as well as the instrument cluster, which houses a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and a fuel-level gauge. The five-digit odometer shows 32,601 miles which are believed to be original! This is certainty one for the purists! Paint body fit and finish are top notch as well. With a deep passion for all things automotive, LaFontaine Classic Cars celebrates the storied automotive heritage of the Motor City and looks to make the classic car of your dreams a reality.
Founded by Michael LaFontaine Sr. and his two grandsons, Zackary and Mackenzie Hinsperger, LaFontaine Classic Cars offers guests an unmatched offering of iconic classic vehicles – from weekend cruisers to Concours quality show vehicles.
Just prior to the passing of the matriarch of LaFontaine Automotive Group, Maureen LaFontaine, the building in downtown Milford became available and it was the ideal location to launch LaFontaine Classic Cars. The attention to detail and automotive nostalgia throughout is a tribute to Maureen and her everlasting legacy.
The showroom aims to bring buyers back in time to a more classic feel. In addition to all the vehicles in the showroom, the space is decorated with vintage signs from vehicle brands of the past. Not only are there vehicles in the building, but the parking lot to the south contains many others available for purchase.
Michael Sr. commented, “This area is prefect for us as we have a lot of roots in Milford and absolutely love this quaint downtown. We look forward to welcoming fellow automotive enthusiasts through our showroom doors and they can expect to receive the same Family Deal feeling people have come to expect at any of our other dealerships. It’s all about personalizing the experience and having fun at the same time.”
LaFontaine Classic Cars acquires vehicles several ways, with a majority of them coming through auction and Michael Sr.’s personal collection.
The shop is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. More information, including an online listing of vehicles, can be found at lafontaineclassiccars.com.
