1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
Certified Z/28 • Hugger Orange • M21 4-Speed • Jerry MacNeish Inspected
There are restored Camaros… and then there are cars with a story to tell.
This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 represents one of the most iconic muscle car combinations ever produced — finished in striking Hugger Orange with white Z/28 striping and powered by the legendary high-revving DZ-suffix 302 V8 paired with a Muncie M21 4-speed transmission. Inspected and certified by noted Camaro authority Jerry MacNeish of Camaro Hi-Performance, this car was identified as an authentic factory-built 1969 Z/28 with original Z/28 structural characteristics, correct firewall piercing locations, authentic rear axle stamping, and proper performance hardware throughout. According to the MacNeish report, the car retains its original 12-bolt 3.73 Positraction rear axle assembly and displays many correct Z/28 details and features.
The Camaro presents exceptionally well following restoration, featuring correct Hugger Orange paint, white striping in the proper factory locations, orange deluxe houndstooth bucket seats, center console, gauges, rear defroster, power steering, spoiler equipment, AM/FM radio, tilt steering column, and deluxe seat belts. Underneath, the floors and trunk pan were professionally replaced, while the engine bay features numerous restored and reproduction components with excellent attention to detail. The DZ-stamped 302 engine is identified in the report as an authentic Flint-stamped DZ assembly, though noted as not being the original engine installed in the car when new. The car is further equipped with its Muncie M21 4-speed transmission and correct-style Z/28 performance equipment that helped make these cars legends both on the street and on the track.
Additionally, the sale includes an extra DZ-style 302 engine assembly, providing added value and appeal for collectors, restorers, or enthusiasts seeking additional period-correct performance components for one of Chevrolet’s most celebrated muscle car platforms. Opportunities to acquire a documented 1969 Z/28 along with a supplemental high-performance small-block engine package are becoming increasingly uncommon in today’s collector market.
Adding to the intrigue, the MacNeish appraisal notes that the trim tag and VIN plate appear to be reproductions and not the original tags installed by Chevrolet, while also stating the hidden VIN stamping, firewall characteristics, drivetrain layout, and rear axle stamping support the conclusion that this is indeed a genuine factory Z/28 Camaro. The report further notes the car was restored in a desirable color combination and falls into the restored category with numerous reproduction and replacement components. For collectors seeking a visually stunning, professionally restored first-generation Z/28 with documented inspection by one of the hobby’s most recognized Camaro experts, this Hugger Orange four-speed Camaro offers strong presentation, undeniable curb appeal, and one of the most talked-about stories in the muscle car hobby.
