Wearing its iconic Hugger Orange finish, this COPO Camaro tribute presents remarkably close to the real thing. The look, stance, and overall presence capture the spirit of the legendary factory cars. What makes this example particularly interesting is that it is powered by a genuine COPO 427 engine, which raises an interesting question. When a tribute carries the real heart of a COPO, how much of a tribute is it really?
The car was carefully built to replicate the appearance and performance of a true COPO Camaro. It even features the correct radio delete configuration. This example also benefits from the desirable F41 suspension package, which added power steering and power brakes, making it far more enjoyable and manageable to drive.
Power comes from a genuine COPO coded engine block carrying the correct MN stamping and 3963512 casting number. This L72 427 was factory rated at 425 horsepower, a number widely known to be conservative for insurance purposes during that era. Long story short, we think she has a few more HP than they rate...The engine bay presents exceptionally well and appears fresh, clean, and properly detailed. The trunk also includes a selection of additional parts, including new exhaust manifolds that can be installed for those seeking a more “brand new” factory correct appearance.
The interior is purposefully simple, just as a COPO would have been delivered. The radio delete dash, correct trim, and overall presentation give it an authentic factory appearance. Everything looks clean, correct, and well preserved with no disappointments.
The body and Hugger Orange paint present beautifully with excellent fit and finish. No visible flaws stand out and the overall look is striking. Underneath, the car is very clean while still maintaining the character of a vehicle meant to be driven and enjoyed. This is not an over-restored trailer queen. It is a show quality driver with serious performance.
BFGoodrich tires are mounted blackwall out as they should be, completing the proper period-correct look.
If you are in the market for a 1969 Camaro, overlooking this one would be a mistake. It is a rare opportunity to own a carefully built COPO tribute with the added excitement of a real COPO 427 engine. Even as a tribute, it stands tall and will easily outshine many restored 1969 Camaros on the market today. Canadian tax is not applicable.
