"1969 Cadillac Sedan Deville 4 Door Hardtop
""Beautifully new, distinctively Cadillac. Cadillac craftsmen are accustomed to building the finest of motor cars, even if they have never built one like this before! The 1969 Cadillac is an automotive masterpiece, completely new in styling, with major innovations in design, appointments and décor. Tasteful new fabrics adorn the spacious interiors, and Cadillac's conveniences are even more plentiful."" From a 1969 print ad.
For consignment, a 1969 Cadillac Sedan Deville 4 door hardtop showing 95,360 miles, but the true miles are unknown. This car was featured in Counting Cars and built by Kevin Mack on the show, restored in 2018 and can be seen in season 4, episode 5.
Exterior
Eye catching show quality shine and design adorn this big car with Baby Blue serving as the base and character lines accentuated with a fade of darker blue which also borders the sweeping stripes that begin at the front wheel opening. Those spear-like white stripes are repeated on the rise of the hood giving the car an otherworldly and artful presentation. Spun metal accenting adds another dimension to the design as does the complex white pinstripe flourish on the hood. Even the fender skirts were not spared, sporting a white streak of their own and giving the car the ultimate cruiser profile, here on 15-inch Superior Wheels with 225/70R15 that have a late 2020 date code, and white walls! A white roof rimmed in blue brings it all together and the few imperfections we find include a small blemish on a front fender point, cracking surface at the A-pillar, a chip on a skirt, and a few chips in the chrome bumper.
Interior
The interior is a tasteful array of tan leather with blue stitching throughout, beginning on the door panels of all four doors which present cleanly. The nicely padded split bench seat maintains the motif and along with the rear bench, is in fantastic shape, each with a large pull down armrest, a cool cruising requisite. A wood steering wheel fronts a dash that mixes old with new along with some blue accenting while the surround and dash pad go with the gray leather coverage. An AM/FM/CD radio is on board and down below, a custom center console includes a pair of cupholders and a pair of gauges. The otherwise open floor is covered in blue carpet that is matched in the finished trunk. Over our heads, a tan headliner spreads wide and clean.
Drivetrain
It's a show car so naturally the engine includes some of the Count's pinstriping on the air filter housing and valve covers, both based in blue. It's a 472ci V8 with a whopping 375 horsepower and a 4-barrel carburetor, backed by a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission and 2.94 gears in the rear axle. Power brakes, power steering, and A/C provided by Vintage Air are all part of the package.
Undercarriage
The clean underside is uniformly black save for the single exhaust that runs through a FlowMaster muffler before arching over the rear axle and terminating through a steel pipe in back. Coil spring suspension is utilized front and rear with a 4 link in back and brakes are the standard set up of power disc up front and power drums in back. We find dry and rust free conditions underneath.
Drive-Ability
Look out, Morgantown! You've never seen anything like this long ride! The big V8 comes to life without hesitation and this custom cruiser makes its way around the test loop in fine fashion. As you gaze over the massive hood, point big blue where you want it to go and it gets the job done with a smooth ride and plenty of power underfoot. Other than the clock, all functions operate as intended on this well sorted build. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Practice this. Left elbow on the windowsill, fingers guiding the steering wheel. Right elbow on the armrest, cold non alcoholic beverage in hand. Right foot controlling the speed of the ship. That's the only cruise posture you'll need to make an impression as the car will do most of the talking. With some television provenance and an immaculate custom paint job, this will be the hit of every car show you attend!
