INTRODUCTION: The moment I saw it, I knew I had to have it! Gorgeous colors, frame off restored and then to realize it has a 4-speed and had been body off frame restored! This real 442 has W30 ram air, rally suspension, and an exhaust note that means business.
EXTERIOR: Absolutely stunning looks and the color has a lot to do with it, it's repainted its original Nocturne Blue. It was laid out evenly and the clear coat was polished to a smooth glass finish. The black stripes on the fenders are smooth to the touch. The body appears to be very clean, it is absolutely straight and I don't see any rust or damage. It still has its original quarter panels. The vinyl top looks fresh, overall the bumpers, trim and moldings look good. The 442 back bumper has the notches for the exhaust tips and below the front bumper are the dual air induction scoops. The 15 inch SS1 chrome wheels are sparkling like brand new and wrapped in BFG radial redline tires, these really make the car!
INTERIOR: I'm sitting in the car right now looking around and everything looks clean, fresh and proper. Nice looking carpet down on the floor with the Hurst 4-speed sticking out of the hump. The seats have been reupholstered, the plastic trim on the buckets is really nice. The door panels and armrests look great. The headliner looks fresh and is tight as a drum. The visors, mirror, rear shelf all look great. The dome light works, so does the glove box light. The dash pad is excellent, so is the instrument panel, glove box door, heater control panel and steering wheel. The factory AM radio is in place, it even has the rally pack gauges and tick tock tachometer!
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a strong running, period correct performance 400 with E caring block and B heads. Inside has a hot can, performance built heads and on top is an Offenhauser intake and a dual feed Holley carb with electric choke. It also has a set of coated headers. The forced air induction is being fed by scoops under the front bumper right into the dual snorkel air cleaner that's labeled Rocket 400. It is detailed very nicely, all the pulleys, brackets, components, hoses are clean and proper. It has reproduction spring clamp battery cables and of course the W30 red inner fenders. All the metal surfaces are painted very smooth and clean.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very clean, complete and solid trunk compartment. It still shows a lot of original trunk spatter finish. Under the trunk lid and jamb are painted slick. The weatherstrip and mat were replaced. It has a redline for a spare on a painted rim full along with the jack assembly. The trunk light works and there is a California Car Cover included as well.
UNDERSIDE: It was body off frame restored. The frame is prepped and painted semi-gloss black, the floors appear to be solid and are neatly undercoated. This has the rally suspension which includes boxed rear control arms, front and rear sway bars. The suspension and steering has been gone through. Optional disc brakes in front, drum in back, the lines and e-brake cables were replaced. The fuel tank was replaced. Great sounding exhaust with a deep lopey tone. Looking up at the motor and starter they appear to be clean. The Muncie 4-speed trans looks very fresh, a rebuilt driveshaft leads back to a 12 bolt rear end.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and reputation. Therefore, we built a 2 million dollar, 10,000 square ft service center, and hired a team of technicians to service the essentials on every car we sell.
CONCLUSION: It just all comes together to make this 442 a real stunner! There aren't many of these around and certainly not like this one.
