1968 Oldsmobile 442 coupe. This is NOT a project car. Like any 55 year old car, it does need some cosmetic items but the heavy lifting is already done. DRIVETRAIN In 68, only the Hurst 442 came with the 455 so the motor is a transplant. The block stamping is 396021F which is correct for a 68-72 455 cubic inch 455 engine. The heads are Edelbrock, aluminum topped with aluminum Offenhauser finned valve covers. The carburetor is a Holley 4150 750 cfm double-pumper mounted on an Edelbrock Performer series single-plane aluminum intake manifold. The ignition system is composed of: * MSD Pro-Billet HEI Distributor * MSD Blaster 2 Coil * MSD 6 AL Digital Ignition Box * MSD 8.5mm Spark Plug Wires The transmission is a modified GM 700r4 4-speed automatic from the mid 1980s. I was told that it went to a well-known transmission shop in Maryland and was built to handle 700 hp/tq and currently has a 3500 rpm high stall torque converter. The rear end is the factory GM 12-bolt and it was upgraded with Moser axles Optima Red Top 800 CCA battery From what I can see, all of the parts used in the engine and drivetrain are high quality and the workmanship appears to be professionally done, all of which matches what the former owner told me. PERFORMANCE This is an old-school high performance muscle car that does NOT include any of the following modern conveniences: * Anti-lock braking * Rev limiter * Traction control * Launch control * Stability control * Forward Collision Warning * Lane Departure Assist You will need to govern the use of your right foot to control the vehicle. EXTERIOR The paint looks great even at 5 feet. It has a few areas of bubbling that need to be addressed and there is two spots about the size of your hand where it was touched up by an amateur and needs to be redone. However, it does not need a lot of paint and bodywork. The paint looks good, the panels are straight and its definitely not a rust bucket. The floor pans appear to have been replaced.
