1968 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova Sedan
More than 183,000 Chevy II/Novas were produced in 1968 and as soon as they started to become hand me down cars or populating used car lots, people began modifying them to go faster. Their compact size, (for the time), and easy workability made them great platforms for alterations and personal preferences.
For consignment, a 1968 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova sedan with a title verified 101,157 actual miles. This one doesn't stray from stock appearance but has some very nice powerplant modifications that resulted in a consignor estimated 350 horsepower. He's also proud to say that this is as solid as you get for 57 years old, is turnkey, and can be driven anywhere!
Exterior
Matador Red covers the car in two stage goodness from stem to stern. Looking at the profile, the car's raked stance is helped by the 15-inch Chevrolet Rally wheels with staggered size tires, all indicating this car might mean business, or at least is posing as such. Twin faux vents on the hood add to the mystique and side exit exhaust looks lean and mean. A black ribbed grille is surrounded by very nice chrome trim and bumper and the headlights sit in a black bezel, while the turn signals are down on the bumper. The rear view was amazingly common back in the day, those simple tail lights over a wide bumper contouring around the license plate. A polished rocker panel is a wonderful accent that picks up on the wheels and stainless window trim. The paint and metal are excellent, and only a few bubbles in the paint veer from near perfection.
Interior
Standard fare inside with black vinyl door panels in a rather conservative design, this was a commuter after all, and crank windows were still prevalent. High back black vinyl bucket seats occupy the front and are in great shape, taking on headrests for extra height, while the back bench which is minty fresh. A 4 spoke steering wheel opens up to the horizontal speedometer while an added tach and triple status gauges sit lower. The dash, an AM radio, and switchgear are all in good condition. The loop style black carpet is topped with black carpeted mats and the headliner is a bit wavy but intact. In the trunk, you could eat off the floor as it's nearly showroom fresh.
Drivetrain
A clean 327ci V8 resides under the hood with chrome valve covers and a polished alternator. It's packing a Crane Blueprint cam and domed pistons, topped by an Edelbrock intake and Holley Street Avenger 570cfm 4-barrel carburetor. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission sending power to a 10 bolt rear with a consignor informed 3.73 gearing. This car is equipped with power disc brakes in front and power drums in the rear. This set up is good for a consignor estimated 350 horsepower.
Undercarriage
Uniformly flat black underneath and overall clean, there is minimal surface rust and only wisps of residual oil about. Dual exhaust runs from the headers through glasspack mufflers, then out the sides in front of the rear wheels. Suspension consists of coil springs up front and leaf springs out back.
Drive-Ability
The exhaust puts out a sweet tone and the 327 cubes eagerly push forward with power that is obvious and on tap, and the raked stance puts us on the hunt for red light warriors, although we're limited to our test loop for now. Handling, braking, tracking all get good marks, and all operational features are working as intended with the exception of the horn. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
You're not sneaking up on anyone with this bright red raked ride and what once would have been a rather bland passenger car is now a visually and auditorily loud car that is not shy about its ability to go fast, look great, and dole out some power. It's well sorted and in very nice condition and we know there are Nova lovers out there who are salivating. Well, wipe your mouth and call the mall before this turnkey opportunity gets away!
