"1968 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed Pickup
""It's slices, it dices, it can cut a slice a whole firm, unripe tomato in just one stroke!"" That was the slogan for Ron Popeil's Veg-O-Matic, a 70's kitchen gadget that could do it all. Turns out, Chevy C10's are the Veg-O-Matics of the car world. In our more than eight years in business, there are few vehicles that have been the subject of a wider variety of customizations than the C10. They've been lifted, slammed, shaved, resto-modded, patina'd, hot rodded, drag raced, and about anything else your imagination can think of.
For consignment, a 1968 Chevrolet C10 short bed pick up truck showing 4,848 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to an exemption. Here's the resto-modded version of a cool American truck that you've been dreaming about. No build required, rather a simple turn of the key!
Exterior
While the paint is stunning, let's talk about the spectacular stance of the truck with staggered sized American Racing wheels, 18-inch in front and 20-inch rears, and staggered width tires tucked up into the fenders of this dropped ride. There's a well coordinated match with the side molding that runs end to end including over the wheel openings and it delineates the Medium Blue Metallic of the top and the black lower. Couple that with the glossy black coverage of the cab and you've got one outstanding appearance all brought to a crescendo by the tailgate which wears the Chevrolet stamped black band over the chrome bumper. The grille is also surrounded by black and a red bowtie adds a flash of color to the nose. Chipping filler in two lower places and a paint chip or two constitute the only imperfections we could find.
Interior
Handsome black vinyl door panels are robustly padded and stitched and are occupied with sporty drilled hardware while inside, TMI black bucket seats add some contoured throne where there was once likely a flat bench. They include a center console with cupholders and the dash gets a true street rod treatment with billet steering wheel behind the flame laden red, silver and blue gauges in a silver painted surround. The center stack brings things into the 21st century with a touch screen for the AM/FM/CD radio over toggle switches and the A/C controls. Black carpet below, a vinyl padded headliner above, and a bed that is a spotless example of oak planks and stainless rails which can be viewed through the fixed and tinted rear window.
Drivetrain
This puts the ""mod"" in resto-mod as the bay presents with a 6.0 liter LS V8 with 317 cylinder heads and fuel injection. It's mated to a 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission that routes power to the 12 bolt rear axle. Headers are on board along with power steering and air conditioning.
Undercarriage
Clean conditions prevail underneath where the dual exhaust runs through a pair of FlowMasters that immediately dump under the truck. Power disc brakes on the front and power drum in back are joined by coil overs up front and coil spring with a swing arm in back for suspension.
Drive-Ability
The healthy roar of a header equipped LS engine fills our receiving station as we move the column shifter into drive and move this blue cruiser onto the test loop. There's obvious power underfoot, straight tracking, and much better handling than your grandfather's farm truck. Other than the volt gauge, all functions inside and out work as they should, and we roll this beauty into the truck showroom. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
Here's a show ready truck with spectacular paint, a nice drivetrain, and a spotless interior and minty bed. Black and blue will turn heads, and those wheels and lowered stance are mean and clean. You won't be behind the eight ball with this purchase as C10's are hotter than ever, and this one is a winner. Call your shot then call the mall.
