Zoom Classic Cars presents this 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible. Few cars capture the spirit of the late 1960s quite like the first-generation Pontiac Firebird, and this 1967 Firebird Convertible is a great example. Finished in its original Burgundy color, this Firebird retains its numbers-matching 400 CI V8, factory 4-barrel carburetion, iconic dual hood scoops, classic first-year styling, and a wonderful collection of documentation accumulated over the years. The current owner purchased the car in 2006, and over the past two decades it has been well cared for and driven fewer than 5,000 miles. Originally a California car, it has remained a solid and attractive example, with body panels that appear solid and excellent panel fitment throughout. The 1967 Firebird was Pontiac\'s answer to the rapidly growing pony-car market and shared its basic architecture with the Chevrolet Camaro. Pontiac, however, gave the Firebird its own distinctive personality, with unique styling, Pontiac-specific engines, interiors and trim. The 1967 model year was the Firebird\'s debut, making these cars particularly significant to Pontiac enthusiasts and collectors. The first-year cars are instantly recognizable by their elegant body lines, distinctive split grille, iconic front vent windows, and the unmistakable dual hood scoops that became one of the signature visual elements of Pontiac\'s performance cars. The sculpted dual hood scoops give this Firebird an aggressive yet elegant appearance and immediately identify the car as a Pontiac performance model. They work particularly well with the Burgundy exterior, creating one of the most recognizable silhouettes of the first-generation Firebird.Under the hood is the car\'s original numbers-matching 400 CI V8 situated in a very clean engine compartment and identified by the YT engine block, producing a factory-rated 325 horsepower. The 400 is backed by a Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission, making this Firebird both powerful and enjoyable to drive. A dual exhaust system provides the appropriate deep Pontiac V8 sound and complements the car\'s performance nicely. The car retains its original Burgundy color, having received one repaint over its lifetime. The finish presents very well overall and gives the car an attractive, period-correct appearance. The body panels appear solid, straight and properly aligned, with excellent panel fitment. The iconic dual hood scoops are a particularly attractive feature and add considerable visual character to the front profile of the car.All of the exterior chrome trim and 400 badging are present and in excellent condition. There are a few minor cosmetic imperfections worth noting, including imperfections on the hood and near the left hood scoop as shown and a small spot of rust on the rear bumper. These are reflected in the photographs and are consistent with the character of a well-preserved older collector car rather than a freshly restored trailer queen. The car retains its factory Firebird Rally wheels with trim rings, mounted with BFGoodrich white-letter radial tires. An optional luggage rack adds both visual appeal and practicality. The Cream colored power convertible top was chosen as a replacement to the factory equipped black top and operates properly. Inside is a very nice black vinyl interior that remains in very good condition. The interior features the desirable full center console with storage, factory AM radio, and rubber Firebird floor mats. The car has been upgraded with Auto Gage aftermarket gauges for oil pressure, volts and water temperature, providing useful additional information while retaining much of the original character. The rear seat does have a tear, which is shown in the photographs. Importantly, the car comes with a complete replacement rear seat cover, allowing the new owner to address the issue without having to source the correct material separately. One other item to note is that the driver\'s door does not currently have a speaker, as shown. The optional luggage rack is in overall excellent condition, although the center trim piece is missing as shown. The trunk compartment is solid and clean, and the undercarriage is also very clean and presents well. The dual exhaust system sounds excellent and gives the car the unmistakable character of a classic Pontiac V8.One of the strongest features of this Firebird is the documentation that accompanies it.The sale includes:Official Pontiac Historical Services (PHS) documentation,Original owner\'s manual,Extensive documentation and receipts from the current and previous owners,Numerous maintenance and service receipts,Miscellaneous additional Firebird parts including Hood tachometer, Extra mirrors, bezels and Firebird-logo fender pads designed to protect the paint while servicing the engineThe documentation, original equipment and collection of extra parts make this a particularly interesting car for the Pontiac enthusiast who appreciates provenance and history. This Firebird is not simply a car to look at. It is a car to drive and enjoy. The numbers-matching 400 provides plenty of traditional Pontiac V8 torque, while the Turbo-Hydramatic automatic makes cruising effortless. The car runs, drives and handles very well, and the power convertible top makes it especially enjoyable for summer cruising. With fewer than 5,000 miles driven by the current owner since 2006, this Firebird has clearly been enjoyed sparingly and carefully. The 1967 Pontiac Firebird Convertible represents the beginning of one of Pontiac\'s most important and enduring nameplates. First-year Firebirds have a special place in the collector-car world, and examples retaining their original drivetrain, California history, desirable 400 V8 and extensive documentation are considered great finds. This particular Firebird offers an appealing combination of originality, documentation, drivability and character. It isn\'t being presented as a freshly restored show car—it is an honest, very nice example that has been carefully maintained and sparingly driven for nearly two decades by its current owner.Stored in Massachusetts with Clean title in owner\'s name. Please call Jeff for additional information or to schedule an appointment to see the car or to have it inspected by a 3rd party. Thanks for Looking.
