Presented here at Grogan Classics is a very fine example of a real 1967 Chevelle SS Convertible. From the factory this Chevelle came with a 283 V8 and 2 Speed Powerglide automatic transmission, black interior with a black top, bucket seat with headrests (rare), SS trim, console, finished in Belero Red (now Torch Red closest match) making this Chevelle VERY RARE 1 of 554 cars produced. GM paperwork is in hand. This is a 3 owner car with some interesting history.
This car was sold new at Mander Chev Olds in North Vancouver, spending most of its life in British Columbia. Mander Chev and Conroy Pontiac back in the day were competing for bragging rights at the new local drag strip. They were known to put 427’s in small block cars. The original owner of this car stated that he purchased the car from Mander new with an aluminum head 427 in it. Unfortunately, the paperwork that went with this claim could not be found. Today we present this beast of a Chevelle as a Tribute car with its incredible drivetrain and unique history.
The second owner of this car was a highly skilled car restorer and body man. He purchased this car for himself and painstakingly restored it from NOS parts, spending thousands of hours to finish the car as presented here today. His skill and commitment to this car is evident in the absolute quality nut and bolt restoration. The car runs, drives, sounds and performs incredibly! It is truly, one of kind!
Currently the Chevelle is powered by a period correct aluminum head 427 V8 producing 608 hp (dyno papers on file). Behind it is a turbo 400 automatic transmission rebuilt to withstand up to 800 hp. The suspension is all Hotchkis, with Baer Disk brakes up front and drums on the rear. It has a 12 Bolt rear end with 3.08 gears making this an agreeable cruiser. The car drives like it would have new and has just over 2800 miles on it since the restoration was completed. This Chevelle is just as shiny underneath and inside as it is on the top. Ask to see it on the hoist and be just as impressed as the topside. Appraised value of $165,000 CAD. Canadian tax is not applicable.
