AUTHENTICITY & HISTORY
This Camaro is a rare and documented 1967 SS, verified by the “4P” code on the trim tag, confirming it as a factory Super Sport — not a clone. The car was originally finished in GM code Y Butternut Yellow, built at GM’s Norwood, Ohio assembly plant, and shipped new to Walsh Chevrolet on June 20, 1967.
A standout feature is the correct one-year-only torque bar (radius rod) still present on the rear axle — a component often missing even on authentic SS cars. Casting and assembly dates align correctly, including a QS-stamped axle tube and May 1967 casting dates. These details are highly prized by knowledgeable Camaro enthusiasts.
ENGINE & DRIVETRAIN
The engine is the correct casting-number large-journal 350ci block (#657) with an April 4, 1967 casting date, topped with correct double-hump heads (#3917291), all properly date-matched. The MS suffix stamp and original configuration further reinforce the car’s authenticity.
Earlier this year, the engine was fully machined, blueprinted, and assembled by the current owner — a 25+ year experienced engine builder and machine shop owner with a Superflow dyno on-site. The build was intentionally kept near stock appearance and character, with carefully selected internal upgrades for durability and performance.
Notable engine details include:
• Forged TRW/Sealed Power L2256 flat-top pistons
• Camshaft profiled to GM’s legendary L79 hydraulic cam specifications
• M55HV high-volume oil pump
• Torque-plate honing with moly rings
• Balanced crankshaft, valve-jobbed heads, upgraded valve springs
• True roller double-row timing set and poly-lock rockers
• Vintage Holley double-pumper carburetor (hand-built)
• PerTronix electronic ignition module (hidden under distributor cap)
• GM Delco plug wires and zinc-fortified oil with modern spin-on filter conversion
Compression is approximately 10.5:1, and the engine runs comfortably on 93-octane pump fuel. While originally rated at 295 horsepower, performance is estimated closer to 400 horsepower, reflecting both the upgrades and GM’s well-known conservative factory ratings.
CHASSIS, SUSPENSION & DRIVING EXPERIENCE
The car is equipped with power steering, making it exceptionally enjoyable to drive — a rare luxury for a 1967 SS. Suspension improvements include new front springs, shocks, and end links. Cooling has been upgraded with an improved radiator and system components.
A custom exhaust system with headers, X-pipe, and Pypes mufflers delivers a strong, authentic muscle car sound. Brakes have been serviced with new components for confident stopping.
The car rides on an expensive set of radial redline tires, paired with correct 1967-only SS center caps, recently installed and brand new. Tire tread appears excellent.
INTERIOR & PRESENTATION
The interior has been restored to a stock appearance, including new door panels and headliner, with one tasteful exception: a vintage Stewart-Warner oil pressure gauge for added driver confidence. Original GM-logo keys are still present — a subtle but appreciated detail.
Paint shows honest aging consistent with a high-quality restoration car, not an over-restored trailer queen. Some blending has occurred over the years, and the finish is not original 1967 lacquer throughout, but the metal is notably straighter and cleaner than many examples on the market today.
TRANSPARENCY & FINAL NOTES
• Mileage shown is exempt due to the vehicle’s age
• Mileage may increase slightly, as the car is driven periodically for maintenance
• This is not a 100% original survivor or “born-with” car
• It is a thoughtfully restored, mechanically sorted driver-quality SS Camaro
• As with any 50+ year-old vehicle, signs of age and use should be expected
A reasonable buyer will appreciate the authenticity, rare factory SS verification, extensive mechanical investment, and honest presentation. Finding another documented 1967 Camaro SS with this level of correctness, performance, drivability, and rare factory features — at a comparable price point — will be extremely difficult.
