The first-generation Pontiac GTO is largely credited for popularizing the muscle car market in the '60s, but it was only a trim package for its first two years. 1966 marked the first year for the GTO to be a standalone model, and sales numbers reflected the excitement of buyers who snatched up 96,964 of them, making the '66 GTO one of the most iconic muscle cars still to this day!
Art & Speed Classic Car Gallery is excited to offer this gorgeous example of a genuine 1966 Pontiac GTO. Undergoing an extensively documented, high-quality, frame-off restoration, this GTO is a unique, one-of-a-kind head turner. The chassis was blasted, rust-treated, and painted, while the body received new quarter panels, floor patch panels, rust treatment, and Rattletrap sound deadening.
And what better color for a TIGER! Originally maroon with a black interior from the factory, it now sports Orange Crush ChromaPremier paint (Ford Edge color) and a Pearl White interior with black carpet. Even the trunk received a fresh coat of spatter paint. Add in the stance, along with brand-new cast-aluminum Pontiac Rallye II style 17x8-inch wheels (245/50R17 rear, 225/50R17 front), and it works to flawless perfection on this car!
It appears no stone was left unturned. Whether original or replaced, this car's brightwork is stunning, from the front to rear bumpers to the trim and emblems. The interior is no exception, with matching paint on the dash, steering wheel, and column. A new black vinyl dash pad adorns the top side, while brand-new gauges sit inside a brand-new wood-paneled surround. Even the Hurst shifter on the Tremec five-speed looks perfect between the factory bucket seats.
Inside the engine bay, tasteful upgrades and attention to detail abound, such as a Griffin aluminum radiator, six-blade fan, and dual master cylinder. It appears the factory 389 made way for a period-correct upgrade to a fully-rebuilt 400ci V8. Go-fast goodies making the engine rumble include a COMP Cams cam, hydraulic flat-tappet lifters, MSD 6AL ignition and wires, and EFI fuel injection. Ceramic coated headers lead into a full dual exhaust system with X-pipe. The exhaust note is healthy and heavy! Power steering and front disc brakes make sure it will turn and stop, though we would recommend a steering box upgrade to make it a real performer.
PLEASE NOTE: Since the photos were taken, the rear exhaust pipes have been modified to exit behind the rear wheels instead of below the bumper as shown).
If you want muscle with a stunning exterior, this '66 GTO is ready to grab the tiger by its tail and hit the road running today. It is available for viewing during business hours at Art & Speed Classic Cars.

At Art & Speed, we believe that automobiles are more than just transportation. They are part of the "thrill ride" of life!
Maybe it was the car that carried you and that special person on your first date; or brought home your newborn baby. Perhaps a certain car brought father and son together in a project that created cherished memories through frustration, laughter and proud accomplishments. Maybe it was the object that created freedom and exhilaration from the growl of the big block engine, the smell of the interior and the fuel, the feeling of being one with the road. Perhaps it's all about the first time you saw your favorite car with it's sleek lines, wild colors, bold graphics, or elegant sense of beauty and artful design. The wind in your face and hair… The sensation of speed… And remember the family vacations? And, of course, none of us ever had our picture taken with our cars, right?
As adults, we have a passion for the "vehicles of our lives," the stories that they remind us of, the music that we hear when we see certain automobiles. Indeed, automobiles are woven into the tapestry of our lives, reminding us of simpler pleasures.
At Art & Speed, our goal is to help you relive those experiences and create new ones. Founded by Kevin Caffman and Barry Gilmore, Art & Speed delivers the vehicles, memorabilia and special events that strike passion, revive old memories, and allow us to share those events with our family and friends. And most importantly, Art & Speed will help you make new memories!

Kevin has been a "car guy" since he was old enough to peer out the car windows, identifying every car by year, make and model. Over the years, he has built a reputation for building, owning and selling high quality collector cars. With a background in business, information technology and digital marketing, he has continued to pursue the art of classic automobiles as a hobby. After a successful career in the corporate world, Kevin decided to pursue his dream of owning and building a "different kind of business". Kevin sees vintage, classic and performance cars as an emotional interaction, merging the worlds of performance with the art of the automobile. Thus the vision for Art & Speed was born!
