1966 Thunderbird Town Landau Coupe. Have owned this car for 37 years.
History:
Bought August 1989
Initially tuned the car, went through the suspension, new shocks, brakes and did some body work to make a decent driver. In 1995 I completely and meticulously rebuilt the engine and detailed the engine compartment. Odometer reading then was 16200. Current odometer reading is 31037.
Bored 0.030” over
TRW Forged Pistons,
Crane Cam, Timing Chain
Complete valve job, bearings, gaskets…
Rebuilt Autolite Carburator
Installed Pertronics Solid State Ignition
Sand blasted the underside of the hood and painted it. The transmission seemed to have been pulled/rebuilt as it was repainted in gray paint. It was working fine so I just replaced the front, rear and side seals. Then went on to the interior repairing the driver's seat, installing new carpets, restoring the gauges, rebuilt the interior door panel bottoms, replacing some chrome along the way. Then detailed the trunk area with new trunk matts and door rubber along with some paint work. Lastly, I had a custom fabricated exhaust system installed.
It's a great running rust free car, great driver. The only downside is that it really could use a paint job and some exterior chrome. I planned on doing this next but now realize that I’m just not going to get to it.
