"STK 3966 1966 Chevrolet Corvette
The 1966 Corvette is a second-generation Corvette Sting Ray model, renowned for its sleek styling and powerful performance. It continued the iconic C2 design introduced in 1963, destined to become classics. This matching-numbers roadster was the beneficiary of a frame-off restoration (1996) that is documented with photos of the build process. No detail was spared. The beautiful roadster participated in NCRS Top-Flite judging in 1999 and NCRS documentation is provided. The handsome body with virtually perfect gaps was professionally refinished in two-stage Rally Red (974). The owner states that when stripped it did not appear to have any collision damage. The paint is in overall very good condition, but there is one small area wherein the clearcoat appeared to have trapped a bit of dust during the paint process. Chrome and stainless are outstanding and reproduction Turbine aluminum wheels (true knock-offs - Western Wheel, Co.) mount Yokohama 15"" Red/Orange line radial tires. A manual convertible top is in virtually new condition. The black vinyl interior (code STD) has also been meticulously restored back-to-original and is outstanding. Features include a Corvette wood-alloy wheel (not original, but original included), tinted windows and excellent trim/dash/door panels. All gauges appear to be working properly and the factory AM/FM sound system has a power antenna. The storage compartment contains a jack, wheel hub knock-off hammer and fire extinguisher.
The drivetrain of this '66 Corvette is all matching-numbers based on partial VIN stampings on the engine, transmission and differential housing. The engine is a 327ci small-block rated at 300hp (code HE). It received a professional rebuild and is fitted with the correct intake, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, distributor w/tach drive and chrome wiring shields. The Mouse sounds great through a factory side-mount exhaust system that is very mellow. It is backed by a Borg Warner T-10 4-speed manual transmission and original posi-traction differential with 3.08:1 gears. A clean, solid chassis is equipped with manual steering and 4-wheel manual disc brakes w/Delco Moraine calipers. All front/rear suspension components appear to have been well maintained. If you have been thinking about investing in a classic C2 Corvette, consider this outstanding, fully restored '66 roadster as the book says: 'All Corvettes Are Red'. ALL VEHICLES SOLD ""AS IS"".
