"1966 Chevelle Malibu LS1-
The 1966 Chevelle marked a major redesign for the Chevelle line. The '66 model was a stunning upgrade to the first generation Chevelle providing a much longer, leaner appearance. The Malibu featured a more sculpted body with a wider
stance than earlier versions and the aggressive look that stood out during the muscle car era.
Current Owner over 30 Years-
The current owner has been the caretaker of this handsome Chevelle for over 30 years. He states that the mileage shown (31k) is actual. This Malibu has been the recipient of a full restoration (2005) and an abundance of loving care over the years. A beautiful 2-stage finish of Torch Red was applied and is in outstanding condition. All chrome and stainless is also excellent and Billet polished aluminum wheels mount stout 17"" Kumho performance radials. The black vinyl interior was completely restored. New black vinyl upholstery was fitted to sport bucket seats and a center console was installed along with new carpeting . Features include Vintage Air, tinted windows, cruise control, custom leather tilt-wheel and a full complement of AutoMeter analog gauges.
LS1 Horsepower / Tremec 5-Speed-
This 1966 Chevelle Malibu was a small-block V8 ('135' code) from the factory, but horsepower is now furnished by a 5.7L GM LS1 motor that was donated by a 2002 Camaro 35th Anniversary SS/SLP (21k miles). These high performance Camaro engines were rated at 345bhp. It is fitted with a serpentine belt system and cooling is managed by an aluminum radiator with dual electric fans. The LS1 sounds amazing through stainless tube headers and a custom exhaust system with electric cut-outs. It is backed by a Tremec T-56 5-speed manual transmission with Hurst Comp+ shifter and 12-bolt posi-traction differential with 3.73:1 gearing. The spotless chassis is fitted with power steering, power assisted disc/drum brakes, HD front /rear sway bars and stainless fuel tank. The battery was also relocated to the trunk.
This refined Bow-Tie Chevelle is going to look magnificent in someone's garage – be that yours?
