1964 Chevrolet C10 Short Bed Pickup
The Chevrolet C-10 designation can be confusing at times, with the C-10, C-20, C-30, and then the line of K designations to throw in as well. The difference between C & K is C is 2-wheel drive, and K is 4 wheel drive. The numerical designation denotes weight maximum. 10 is 1/2 ton, 20 is 3/4 ton, and 30 is 1 ton.
For consignment a 1964 Chevrolet C10 short bed pickup truck showing 55,453 miles, but the true miles are unknown due to a PA title exemption. This truck has been owned by our consignor since 1989 and a frame off restoration was performed soon after purchase.
Exterior
The classic fascia with single headlights mounted just over the chrome bumper is accentuated by the surrounded hue, a two stage covering of Intense Blue Pearl, and it's striking in its presence. The hood creates a seam that becomes a character line that runs the length of the truck in profile and this horizontal feature is complemented by a visor on the cab balanced by a spoiler over the solid rear window. That's followed by a clean and tight black vinyl tonneau over the bed, itself capped off with white lettering on the tailgate. 15-inch aluminum slots present with letters out for that vintage vibe and the truck sits down on the tires rather than above them. Flaws are few and the metalwork is especially nice. Imperfections include a piece of the drip rail missing, general inclusions, a surface level scratch, and a chip or two.
Interior
We'll start in the bed where the honey colored oak planks present beautifully, delineated by stainless rails in between body colored walls. We'd limit cargo to down pillows and air, but that will be up to the next owner. Inside, light gray door panels sharply contrast with the outer blue, while a two tone gray cloth bench fills the back wall and is in very fine condition. Looking forward, a Lecarra steering wheel fronts a dash based in light gray with an instrument cluster embedded by updated gauges, accompanied by a Kenwood AM/FM/CD player in the middle of the clean dash. A black Lokar shifter rises from the floor nicely appointed with thick gray carpet and fitted rubber mats. Satin gray paint coasts the ceiling, sealing the deal on this spotless interior!
Drivetrain
Under the hood is a clean 327ci V8 with Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. It's tied to a 4L60E 4-speed automatic that sends power to the 12 bolt rear axle. The truck has headers, power brakes, power steering, and runs on a 12 volt system.
Undercarriage
Clean conditions confirmed underneath where the dual exhaust runs through stock style mufflers on its way to a chrome exit out back. Coil springs are found front and rear with trailing arms also in back while brakes are configured as power disc up front and power drums in back.
Drive-Ability
The comfortable interior affords great visibility and a perfectly placed shifter as we put it in drive and do just that! Around the loop we go without flogging too much as the tires here are 30 years old. What we find is a strong running truck that does everything well, just good clean fun steeped in glossy blue paint where all functions work as expected. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.
We simply don't see a lot of '64 C10's as they all went to work and were put away wet. Here's a great, show worthy representation of that era in American history when pickups were reserved for one thing and purpose built. This one has a renewed life and is ready for the pampered lifestyle of a show truck.
