Gateway Classic Cars of San Antonio/Austin is proud to present this 1963 Ford Galaxie 500XL Convertible, finished in Rose Beige over a Rose Beige interior with a matching Rose Beige convertible top. This full-size Ford combines distinctive early-1960s styling with a substantially upgraded drivetrain and a long list of performance components.
Under the hood is a rebuilt 390 V8 featuring Edelbrock Performer cylinder heads, a Comp Cams 422-11 roller camshaft, forged pistons, ARP head bolts, a Cloyes dual-row timing set, upgraded valve-train components, and a polished air cleaner. Fuel is supplied through a factory-style triple 2-barrel carburetor setup and intake manifold. Additional upgrades include factory cast headers, a 2.5-inch exhaust with electric cutouts, an aluminum radiator with an upgraded electric fan, electronic ignition and distributor, an electric fuel pump, and a chrome alternator.
Backing the 390 is a Borg Warner 4-speed manual transmission. The drivetrain also features a 3.00 Positraction rear end, oversized axle shafts, and new power brakes. Lower control-arm pivot bushings have also been upgraded with a pivot kit. Factory power steering helps retain the comfortable road manners expected from a Galaxie.
Inside, the Rose Beige interior features an original radio, digital gauges, an under-dash air-conditioning unit, electric white convertible top, and Rose Beige top cover. The car also features a factory power driver's seat and chrome Thunderbird-style valve covers under the hood. Some NOS and replaced parts are included with the vehicle.
