"Cruisin Classics is proud to present this gorgeous 1963 Chevrolet Impala SS. This 3rd generation Impala was originally an Ermine White (936) car, but it sits before us today with a coat of bright red paint that catches the eye. Up front, you'll find a chrome-trimmed rectangular eggcrate grille with dual side-by-side round headlights set in bright bezels. Centered above the grille on the leading edge of the hood is a colorful Chevrolet badge, and beneath the grille is a mirror-finish chrome bumper. As you look down the side of the car, its rectilinear styling comes into focus, and you'll see an abundance of chrome accents that add a luxurious touch. The fenders feature bright horizontal trim toward the forward edge and cross-flag badges to the rear of the wheels. Bright elements continue with window trim, drip rail molding, roof-line surround, dual side mirrors, wiper arms, door handles, and ribbed rocker molding. A spear of body side molding starts behind the front wheels and runs all the way to the rear, widening as it travels. Filling the center of the spear is a piece of engine-turned aluminum topped off with ""IMPALA"" lettering toward the rear bumper. The driver's side gas fill door is accented with ornamental chrome, as are both of the removable fender skirts. Also on the rear quarters are bright circular ""SS"" badges with running Impalas. Peeking out just behind the rear wheels on each side are chrome exhaust tips that emit a glorious rumble. Around back are iconic round triple taillights all set in an engine-turned aluminum panel framed in chrome trim. The trunk lid wears a colorful Chevrolet badge that matches the one up front on the hood, and the chrome rear bumper mimics the front one as well. This whole gleaming red and chrome package sits on a set of steel wheels with correct ""SS"" hubcaps, all wrapped in Nexen N'Priz AH5 tires.
Lift the hood to reveal a very tidy and presentable black engine bay that you'd be proud to show off at any car show. At the center is a bright orange 5.4-liter 327ci 300hp Turbo-Fire V-8 mated to a Borg-Warner 4-speed manual transmission, both of which we believe to be original to the car. The front tab of the block is stamped with a suffix code that ends with a ""B"", denoting it as the 300 hp variant (as opposed to the 250 hp version). Back in 6,3, Chevy did not stamp the engine and drivetrain components with numbers you could link to a specific car, but they did date them. The build date of this engine is 11/23/62, the transmission was built 1/31/63, and the car was built during the 4th week of March 1963. These date codes line up in such a way that it's exceedingly likely these are the original components. We were unable to read the date code on the open-geared rear axle, but it does look period-correct. Speaking of codes, the original cowl tag is still present under the hood and it tells us that this Impala was born with trim ""875"" - denoting a red vinyl bucket seat interior. The fact that only ""SS""-equipped models received bucket seats confirms that this is a true ""SS"" car. Back to the engine, it's topped off with cast heads, a stock intake, orange valve covers with ""327"" and ""300HP"" call-outs, a 4-barrel Quadrajet carburetor, and a black air cleaner. Other highlights under the hood include a new working A/C compressor with 134A refrigerant (this is a factory A/C car!), power steering, and power brakes (4-wheel drums, single reservoir). Exhaust travels through very clean cast manifolds and glass-pack style mufflers before exiting with an aggressive rumble.
It should come as no surprise that the interior of this '63 Impala SS is every bit as stylish and well presented as the rest of the car. The bright red vinyl interior is illuminated by working courtesy lights and accented by chrome and aluminum elements that catch your eye everywhere you look. The door panels are OEM-correct and feature an armrest and bright buttons as well as dual window cranks. The bright buttons continue on the backs of the red vinyl front bucket and rear bench seats. The bucket seats are manually adjustable and have chrome trim that frames the seat backs. The rear bench features a bright Impala speaker cover at the top center. All of the seats are in very good condition with no significant imperfections. Between the front seats is a very cool center console that features a long storage box with a ribbed chrome top door, a white knob shifter with black boot, a chrome shift-pattern plate, and a section with engine-turned aluminum and a round ""SS"" badge. The dash is padded in red vinyl (an ""SS"" feature) and features a lower flat dash with a speaker on the right and a higher coved section on the left for the gauges. The gauge and instrument bezels are embellished with more glistening engine-turned aluminum. There is a 120mph speedometer, a fuel gauge, an inop. analog clock, and warning lights for oil, gen, hot, and cold. The odometer reads only 18,228 miles, and the title claims those miles to be actual. A 6K dash-mounted factory tachometer in its own pod is mounted just above the steering column. To the left of the steering wheel on the dash are controls for lights, wipers, and a vent, while on the right are the ignition, a lighter, a Custom Autosound AM/FM/BT stereo, and an ashtray. The stereo plays your favorite tunes not just through the dash speaker but also through speakers mounted in the front kick panels. Beneath the ignition and lighter are the HVAC controls that blow cold A/C and hot heat. Directly ahead of the driver is an OEM 2-spoke steering wheel with accent bands and a bright Impala SuperSport horn ring & centercap. Ahead of the front passenger is simply an empty glovebox. Overhead is a tight white perforated vinyl headliner, and underfoot is red hook & loop carpet. Back in the trunk, you'll find a set of black carpeted floormats with Impala cross flags logos, the original radio in a box (operation unknown), a full spare, an owner's manual, a shop manual, and instructions for the new stereo.
If you're looking specifically for a 3rd-gen Impala SS or just a cool '60s cruise, this ride is going to get your heart pumping! It's got a date-correct 300hp V-8, a 4-speed manual, cold factory A/C, power steering, power brakes, and all the gorgeous trim that comes with the SS package! Here at Cruisin Classics, we understand that you have many options when choosing where you purchase your classic, muscle or collector car and we would like to thank you for considering us.
Cruisin Classics has been buying and selling cars for many years.. The majority were your average daily drivers but our passion has always been in muscle cars and hot rods so in 1996, Cruisin Classics built a 56,000 sq.ft. showroom located in Columbus, OH that they still operate out of today. All of our vehicles are hand-picked and selected to ensure they fit our inventory. This facility is now arguably one of the best-stocked collections for sale in the US housing hundreds of unique automobiles all under one roof. We invite you to our facility! There is something for everybody when you come to visit.
After years of serving as central Ohio's premiere classic car dealer at Cruisin Classics Auto Sales, we saw an unfulfilled need that was not being met for our clients. We loved helping match our clients with the classic and American muscle cars of their dreams. But what about after the purchase? We recognized that our clients needed a trusted resource to continue to care for their classic vehicles. It did not sit well with us that our valued clients and their incredible vehicles were being outsourced to, sometimes several, third-party resources for maintenance and performance needs. We also wanted to help the many people that we had met over the years who already owned classic vehicles which were in need of restoration, upgrades, and maintenance. Too often, we were seeing vehicles with so much potential left sitting in garages under covers because their owners did not know who to turn to for such specialized work. It is our goal to offer our clients a truly comprehensive, seamless, and enjoyable classic car ownership experience, from purchase to maintenance to storage. Thus, Cruisin Classics Performance Center was born. We have cherry-picked the most talented, experienced, and passionate team of technicians to offer our clients a true one-stop-shop solution for any and all of their classic car needs. Our honest business model has lasted almost 25 years to date and Cruisin Classics has a worldwide reputation as one of the best in the business.
Outside of the shop, this business has afforded us the opportunity to be actively involved in our community and fulfill our goal of supporting several local and national organizations that hold a special place in our hearts. We are proud sponsors of the Kiwanis Club of Columbus, the Columbus USO, Honor Flight, Special Olympics, multiple car clubs, and much more.
In conclusion, 100% customer satisfaction is our main goal. Always has been.. always will be. We would like to invite anyone considering one of our vehicles to come to our beautiful facility to inspect the car in person or send somebody on your behalf.
