The 1962 Chrysler 300 represents a massive turning point for one of America's most iconic nameplates. Dubbed 'The Beautiful Brute', this model year marked the split of the 300 lineup into two distinct categories: the ultra-exclusive, high-performance 300H 'Letter Series' and the more affordable, high-volume 300 'Sport Series'. The 1962 model dropped the prominent, sharp tail fins of the late 1950s in favor of a sleek, 'jet-age' profile. Key features included: - The 'Jukebox' Dash: A highly stylized, AstraDome dashboard utilizing advanced, futuristic electroluminescent lighting. - Push-Button Transmission: The three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission was operated via a famous array of mechanical buttons located directly on the dashboard. - Luxury Amenities: Premium options included functional leather bucket seats, a full-length center console, a driver's power seat, and power windows.
