Offered for sale is an outstanding 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne two door sedan that captures the raw, no nonsense character of the early Chevrolet muscle era. Finished in striking Roman Red over a red cloth and vinyl interior, this Biscayne combines the clean and straightforward styling of the Biscayne platform with the legendary performance of a 409 cubic inch V8 and a four speed manual transmission. The five digit odometer shows approximately 72,000 miles.
At the heart of this Biscayne is a replacement 409 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 that was reportedly overhauled prior to installation and built to 409 horsepower specifications. The engine features solid lifters, dual Carter AFB four barrel carburetors, an aluminum intake manifold, and dual exhaust. The combination delivers the unmistakable sound and performance that helped make the Chevrolet 409 one of the most recognizable performance engines of the early 1960s.
The engine was assembled using a 3788068 block, Carter AFB 3361S front and 3362S rear carburetors, 3814690 cylinder heads, a 3814881 aluminum intake manifold, and 3822925 and 3822926 exhaust manifolds. The engine stamp pad has been machined. This engine is a replacement and is not represented as the original engine to the car.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a T10 four speed manual transmission controlled by a Hurst Competition shifter. The rear end was rebuilt during the refurbishment and is equipped with a limited slip differential. More recently, 3.55 to 1 ring and pinion gears were installed, providing a great balance between strong acceleration and comfortable cruising.
The exterior was originally finished in Ermine White according to the body plate and was refinished in Roman Red during a refurbishment completed around 2006. The brilliant red finish complements the clean and purposeful lines of the Biscayne two door sedan. Exterior details include 409 badging, quad headlights, dual exhaust outlets, and classic brightwork.
Body color 14 inch steel wheels fitted with Chevrolet bowtie hubcaps complete the period correct appearance. The wheels are wrapped in Hankook Kinergy ST tires installed in 2026. The drum braking system also received extensive service in 2026, including replacement of the master cylinder, wheel cylinders, drums, and shoes. The shocks were replaced as well.
Inside, the cabin remains appropriately straightforward and period inspired. Red patterned cloth and vinyl bench seats are complemented by color keyed carpeting and matching interior trim. Equipment includes front lap belts, a heater, and a Hurst Competition floor shifter.
A two spoke steering wheel sits ahead of the sweeping 120 mph speedometer along with gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. A column mounted tachometer keeps engine speed directly in view, while three auxiliary gauges mounted beneath the dashboard provide additional information to the driver. The five digit odometer shows approximately 72,000 miles.
Mechanical maintenance has continued in recent years. In addition to the brake overhaul, shocks, tires, and 3.55 to 1 rear gearing, the fuel tank and sending unit were replaced along with an axle shaft gasket. The battery was replaced in 2025. These updates complement the earlier refurbishment and help make this Biscayne a classic that can be enjoyed as well as displayed.
The body plate identifies this car as a V8 equipped 1962 Biscayne two door sedan assembled in Los Angeles during the first week of July. Trim code 876 identifies the red cloth and vinyl interior, while paint code 936 indicates that the car originally left the factory finished in Ermine White.
The 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne represents an exciting period in Chevrolet performance history. Its understated styling and straightforward design provide the perfect platform for the legendary 409. Combined with a four speed manual transmission, limited slip rear end, dual quad induction, and classic steel wheel appearance, this Biscayne delivers the look and character enthusiasts associate with early 1960s Chevrolet performance.
Whether destined for a collection, local cruise nights, shows, or simply enjoyed on the road, this 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne offers tremendous presence and old school character. The Roman Red exterior, red bench seat interior, replacement dual quad 409 cubic inch V8, four speed manual transmission, limited slip rear end, and body color steel wheels come together to create an impressive and unmistakably American performance classic.
Do not miss the opportunity to own this striking 1962 Chevrolet Biscayne. Combining timeless full size Chevrolet styling with the legendary character of a dual quad 409, a four speed manual transmission, and an unmistakable period performance appearance, this Biscayne is ready for its next caretaker. Hello and welcome to LRA AUTO SALES. We purchased a Chevrolet Dealership almost three years ago and turned it into a Quality Pre-Owned Auto Superstore and Muscle & Classic Car Museum.
I named it LRA Enterprises Auto Museum and Auto Sales which encompasses my two son’s initials and mine. I wanted it to become a family oriented place where parents could take their sons & daughters to and show them what cars use to be like in their era and where they can purchase a car of their era. Where a husband and wife could bring their children to and link the gap of automotive history from present back to the past.
We pride ourselves in displaying some of automotive history’s greatest and most rarest cars ever built. Where names such as Corvette, Super Sport, BOSS 429, MOPAR and HEMI are common place. We are also strong in the racing heritage and names such as Lingenfelter and Ray Barton, Richard Petty and Bobby Allison are legends and at LRA we’ll make sure those legends will never die.
We offer a “one stop shop” kind of atmosphere and offer all aspects of sales, service, auto body and collision and towing. We encompass a full array of Cars and Trucks for sale from the 1950’s up to current day. We also have a Speed Shop on site, offering everything from wheels to accessories and even dyno runs for measuring horsepower.
We are located at 3114 Veterans Highway / Route 413 in Bristol PA and provide quality pre-owned cars and quality pre-owned trucks to all the surrounding areas of Bristol.
