There is something wonderfully imposing about a full-size Buick from the early 1960s, and this 1962 Buick Invicta 4-Door Hardtop captures that era beautifully. Big, elegant, powerful, and remarkably well preserved, this Original AZ Buick has low mileage and an unusually desirable combination of factory options.The Invicta occupied an interesting place in Buick\'s lineup from 1959 through 1963, positioned as a full-size performance-oriented Buick before the Wildcat name eventually assumed that role. For 1962, the Invicta offered the kind of effortless performance and luxury that made Buick one of America\'s premier automobile manufacturers, and this particular car is an especially well-equipped example.Originally an AZ car, it subsequently made its way east to Maryland before coming to Massachusetts. It is now owned by its third owner and has spent its life in dry climates for much of its existence, which is reflected in the remarkably solid body and undercarriage. Finished in Glacier Blue, the car received one professional refinish approximately 15 years ago and continues to present very nicely. The paint has the handsome, period-correct appearance one expects from a well-maintained survivor, with only minor imperfections consistent with age and use. The body panels are exceptionally solid, showing only minor surface rust in a few areas as pictured. The car retains its original character rather than having been over-restored or cosmetically transformed. The chrome, brightwork, badging, and exterior trim are all intact and in excellent overall condition, giving this Invicta the unmistakable presence of a premium early-\'60s Buick. The combination of the long, sweeping body, formal hardtop roofline, extensive chrome, and factory wire-style wheel covers makes this a particularly handsome automobile from any angle. Inside, the Invicta is equally impressive. The original plaid interior remains in very good overall condition and provides exactly the kind of distinctive period character that makes these cars so appealing today. The seating, door panels, dashboard, and trim retain their original appearance, with only minor wear—most notably on the rear seat—as shown in the photographs. This is an interior that feels authentically 1962 rather than newly recreated. And Buick certainly didn\'t skimp on equipment. Known for its distinctive vertical-valve-cover design, strong low-end torque, and turbine-smooth power delivery, the Wildcat 445 gives this large Buick considerably more personality than its elegant appearance might suggest. With 325 horsepower on tap, it has no trouble moving this substantial automobile with authority. On the road, this Invicta is every bit the classic Buick you hope it will be. It runs, drives, and handles exceptionally well, with remarkably smooth operation and none of the squeaks, rattles, or harshness often associated with a 60-plus-year-old automobile. It is quiet, comfortable, powerful, and extremely smooth—exactly the sort of car Buick intended this to be when it was new. The trunk is spacious, clean, and highly original, retaining its original burlap-style trunk mat, full-size spare tire, and factory jack equipment. Beneath the car, the undercarriage is clean, solid, and dry, with only minor surface rust present. There is no suggestion of the serious rust issues that commonly affect full-size cars of this era. Perhaps most importantly, this Invicta has retained the qualities that collectors increasingly appreciate: originality, honest condition, desirable equipment, low documented mileage, and excellent drivability. It has not been turned into something it was never meant to be. Instead, it remains a beautifully preserved example of Buick\'s early-\'60s approach to American luxury—large, comfortable, powerful, stylish, and packed with thoughtful options. With its Arizona history, solid body, highly desirable 401 Nailhead/4-barrel Wildcat 445, factory air, power accessories, original plaid interior, and just under 76,000 miles, this is a particularly appealing Invicta for the Buick enthusiast or collector of significant American automobiles.
