"Very rare, factory J-code 430ci V8 producing 350 horsepower! Equipped with all favored equipment that includes air conditioning, power steering & brakes, power seat, 14"" Kelsey Hayes wire wheels, tonneau cover, continental kit, and more!! Known affectionately as the Square Bird"" this body style was only produced for 3 years and represents the first of the larger bodied 4-seater T-birds, the introduction of the 2-door hardtop, and the complete departure from the 2-seater roadsters produced from 1955 to 1957.
This utterly superb 1959 Thunderbird is direct from a collection and boasts an exceptional nut & bolt rotisserie restoration and is in exceptional condition throughout! Powered by the rare and powerful J-code 430ci-4bbl V8 linked to smooth shifting Cruise-O-Matic transmission, and fitted with favored options such as Select-Aire air conditioner, power steering & brakes, power convertible top, power driver's seat, heater/defrost, upgraded AM/FM/Cassette radio in stock location, all tinted glass, exterior spotlight rearview mirrors, chrome 14"" Kelsey Hayes wire wheels surrounded by Coker Classic 3"" radial whitewall tires, front bumper guards, fender skirts, rear continental kit, rear seat tonneau cover, auxiliary hardtop with sunroof, windshield washer, and more!
This Thunderbird, finished in beautiful Torch Red with all new black interior upholstery accented with silver piping, is as stunning to see as it is to drive! It was treated to a professional rotisserie restoration where you can confidently say every single nut and bolt was touched and every single component was restored, rebuilt, or replaced for new. It is as beautifully sharp and detailed underneath as it is on top and has never seen inclement weather of any kind. Obviously hardly used since completion in 2012, it has been wonderfully maintained for car shows accumulating only 482 miles. For the trained aficionado, or the dedicated enthusiast, there will be few such exemplary cars to be had in this market!
Beginning with a rare 1959 J-code hardtop, the restorer spent some 5,000-man hours during the restoration to convert components over to a more suitable, factory convertible chassis. You will find the efforts beyond remarkable with results far superior to any factory car from the assembly line! Looking closely, note the hood latches, hood catches, wiper surrounds, door latches, etc. have all been chromed. The door sill plates, and interior bright work have all been highly polished, all exterior chrome triple plated for the ultimate shine, and hand-rubbed paint that is remarkable, even underneath the car and inner fender wells! A completely polished stainless steel exhaust system, fully finished trunk area, and durable Hartz Stayfast canvass top all continue to add to the unrivaled nature of this amazing restoration! All features on this car are in working order including wonderfully cold a/c, dash clock, courtesy lights, all safety items, power convertible top operation, right down to the 12-volt dash outlet!
More recently, the owner of the past 10 years has since converted the original carburetor to a FiTech Go-EFI electronic fuel injection system and incorporated the addition of a RideTech air bag ride control system to all four wheels, with height level sensors. This was all completed as part of a reality TV episode of ""Speed is the New Black"" with Classic Car Studio in St. Louis, MO completing the work. It adds a touch or modern tech to a timeless piece of Ford T-Bird style! It can be seen its entirety during season two, episode four in 2018.
This is a Thunderbird you must truly see to appreciate! A remarkable buy in every sense just for the restoration cost savings alone! St. Louis Car Museum is a traditional dealership using the power of the internet and its many resources as promotional tools. Special cars, such as the one in this listing, are advertised on e-Bay as well as several other local and national advertising services. We also receive a consistent amount of walk-in traffic and very often, our cars sell before the close of the e-Bay listings. Serious buyers should not hesitate to call us with questions or to discuss securing a vehicle. Thanks for looking!
